I have a question about linking. I have a contact that I have been writing letters to, (proposals and a contract) I now have created an opportunity for this client. How do I link the previously created letters from this client to the opportunity so they show up in the opportunity's activity window?
I know that I can go to the opportunity and create new letters that are linked to boith th e opportunity and the contact, but what about any past letters? Thanks for your help. Glen Goodwin |

The easy and very Macintosh way is to use drag-and-drop! Go to your contacts panel where you can see all of the letters you want to link. Select them all and then literally drag them over to the Opportunity panel, in the top left-hand corner of the typical Daylite screen. Hover your pointer there a moment and then just like spring-loaded folders in the Finder, the Opportunities stuff will open and you can continue the drag to the desired Opportunity and drop the documents on top of it. The links will be created.
BTW…there are many other ways to do this, but that is the most straightforward. *********************************** Macsimum News |

Thanks for your help, however, I cannot get what your are suggesting to work. I go to the contact window and select the contact I wish to work with. On my scren, the lower portion shows a 3 tab option; "contact, activity, forms" I click on the activity button to show the letters sent to the contact. When I try to click and drag them to the Opportunities icon as you suggest, nothing happpens. Am I trying to link the letters in the wrong view? I have tried to see if there is another window that shows just letters linked to a contact and come back to the same one.
I must be missing something real easy... Please guide me along. Thanks again for your help. Glen

Glen:
I have to apologize. I was wrong. I do not personally use the built-in word processor system in Daylite and did not realize that "letter" objects where not treated like all the rest of the objects in Daylite. Apparently you cannot drag a letter object to anything to link it nor can you drag anything to the letter. Odd. Since I use Pages and Word, I have been using the File Reference feature in Daylite when I needed to track a word processing object in Daylite. *********************************** Macsimum News |
