After getting my new iPhone, and abandoning my old Treo a week ago, I learned about the Daylite upgrade that will allow iPhone syncing. I was SO excited!
...until I downloaded and installed the upgrade. I have not been able to access my database since then. I have poured through all of the knowledge base and forums without any success finding a solution. I followed the articles I read and I let my laptop sit while Daylite said the database was being "rebuilt"... for over 24 hours... and it never did progress. So I opened OpenBase and clicked on the log for the database. It shows over and over again that the password to login is incorrect. I am the ONLY user of the program. It is ONLY on my laptop, with the old backup databases on an external hard drive connection wirelessly. However, the new local build is located on the local laptop server. I did not alter or change the password at any time. I emailed support, waited two days, got a canned response, tried the suggestion to login=Daylite Admin, password=Daylite Admin without success, replied and haven't heard back. I've already lost a potentially big sale because I could not access my database to make my confirmation and follow up calls. I am about ready to abandon Daylite and start suggesting that others in my industry not even consider it. I need a program that actually keeps up with current technology! Any help from anyone would be appreciated, because I'm willing to give Daylite another chance until I find a program to replace it. Shannon |

Don’t give up; it is worth using Daylite, believe me. I’ve tried almost every other PIM on the Mac, and Daylite is by far the best. Others may look prettier, and have the odd feature that Daylite doesn’t, but overall Daylite is the most powerful and ‘modern’ PIM on our platform. I had similar issues with the 3.5 build, as mentioned in this thread. The second page of that thread has the link to a beta build that has helped some people. Jumping on board right after a new release is sometimes a little troublesome with any program, as there might be little bugs that only show up once the program is the hands of thousands of users; in general, it’s usually a good idea to wait a few days to see if there are any issues and whether a ‘0.1’ release appears. I’d also take the time to read some of the other threads on the forum to see if anyone has had the same issue, and how they managed to resolve it. HTH Cheers This message has been edited. Tried the beta build and got an error that the login was incorrect, just as before. So, I went BACK a step with that one.

There was more than one beta build. Are you sure it was build 1388?

It was build 1378. I used the link from this thread. Is there another link I should have used?

It should be 1388. I believe it should be the same link. You must have downloaded it before the last update.
At this point if I were you I'd wait. There will probably be another build with some bug fixes in a short time. Regards, Howard |

OK. I tried it again, got the 1388 build and was able to open the program under the DayLite Admin login and password! Yeah. Now, when I try to login to my own database, I am still getting the incorrect login error. Making progress! I just still need to access my database. I missed another important call today because I can't access it. I'm losing business and precious time and I'd appreciate all the help that anyone can give me.

This isn't perhaps a final solution but now that you are in the db as the admin you could create a new user from Daylite Preferences and give a new name and password for that user. If you can login as that new user, then you might be able to use the database. Be sure to give that new user admin privileges. I think you could also then change the owner of the contacts, orgs etc. to the new user (use bulk edit). If it works, you can just stay as that user from this point on, or at least it would help you do your work until you can get it resolved with Marketcircle's engineers. Oh, and be sure to backup the database before playing around with it. You may need to get back to the original.
Just a thought. Regards, Howard |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not in MY database, though. I'm in the program with a whole new blank database. So, I still can't access my names or numbers or dates or anything. That's what I need. If I could get into the database with the DayLite Admin login, I'd just use that all the time.

Wait, I'm confused. So you are logging into a new blank database, but you really want to log in to a previously created and different database? Is that it?

Yep.

OK. So you log out from the database you are now in and then log in to the proper database. Please check the documentation for how to do this as it would be a very long email to write.

What documentation (link)? I've tried logging out from the blank database and into the old one, but get that incorrect id and password error. That's why I posted this subject in the first place!

You can find the answer to this in the Help file accessed from the DL Help menu. It's also on the Marketcircle Web site under Support. You can find a movie there that explains how to log in to your database. Keywords to search for this would be, "log out" and "Connect".
I hope that helps. Regards, Howard |
