My company deals with a lot of logos and other artwork. When I add a jpeg to a note, is there a way to keep the art as an icon, not as the image itself? As well, when I drag artwork out of a note, it is just text clipping? What should I do?
Thanks, Sean Carter |

I don't think there's a way to force it to be an icon, but if you need to 'extract' it as a file, just double click on it and you'll get a save-file window.

Hi Sean
Why do you want to embed these images into a note? I use the add file reference feature. It allows me to keep project related images organized and not inflate my database. Have you tried this method before? |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the advice. Michael: The reason I want them embedded in a note is so that we can pull the images out of Daylite if one of our remote employees doesn't already have the artwork. Ideally I would use file references to keep the database from becoming bloated. Thanks Sean Carter |

Sean is this a remote issue?

I suppose you could say that. Our main office has three macs using Daylite. We use a lot of logos and artwork for our business, so when there is a particular jpeg associated with a project, we like to include the artwork. A file reference would be ideal, but all three of us don't always have the artwork on our macs, so we want to be able to pull images out of Daylite, because we don't want to have to email the image to everybody just so we can have a working file reference. Does that sum it up?
Thanks, Sean Carter |

File references are usually the best way to go to keep your database size down, but the downside of these is that the link to the file must be shared and accessible to everyone else for the references to work. That's not always practical when there are remote users involved, so embedding files into Notes is the other alternative.
As Jorge mentioned double-clicking the icon or object will allow you to save it to your drive. Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation. |
