Hey Everyone,
I am an entertainment agent and am wanting a setup with both Daylite and Billings whereby I would have a calendar entry which would be the performance time, this would be linked with a client and a performer. I then have a contract with fields such as length of performance, cost etc. and finally want to create an invoice telling of the total cost for the client. I want to send all this via e-mail first for the client to agree, then the performer and have an email confirmation. There also needs to be an organisational function for having a deposit. Any help with this would be extremely appreciated. Thanks Hayden |

Hi Hayden,
Like everything in Daylite, there are many ways to do what you want. I suggest you create a Project for each performance and use the Extra Fields to record length, cost, etc., and link client and performer contact records. Billings may or may not be needed. One solution is to create your contract or invoice as a Letter Template using Daylite's built-in editor (or in Word 2008), in which you place the Project info as data keys tied to your extra fields. Then you can send the merged document as the text of an email or as an attachment. I would definitely recommend purchasing DMI to integrate Mail with Daylite. Billings has nice features, particularly for tracking billed hours, sending estimates, creating handsome invoices and tracking payments, but even though you can send info back and forth between Billings and Daylite it doesn't actually create a link in Daylite's Activity window the way it does if you create a Merged document. (At least not in my testing.) Daylite has lots of tools such as Pipelines, custom Forms, Activity Sets and more to help you manage tasks and projects. Definitely check out the Daylite Overview in the Help menu. (There are also plenty of Daylite consultants who would be happy to lend a hand -- I'm in the LA area.)
