I have been using DayLite for about 6 months to manage my small business. I haven't needed to share my database with anyone else, but it seems fairly straightforward to enable multiple users within DayLite.

I am interested in Group Collaboration software because the main office of a business I am buying is in another city, so I want to find a convenient and effective way to maintain close communication with the staff in that office.

I have been considering wiki software but thought I would ask DayLight users for their experiences in sharing information from DayLight, plus more detailed project and financial information across remote offices.

Issues that I think will be important for me are ease of use, ability to share a wide variety of infomation types (images, text, spreadsheets, etc,), support for video conferencing (OK maybe thats stretching things too much) and integration with DayLite.

Your thoughts would be welcomed.

regards

Paul

Rather than thinking about sharing things (such as files, images etc...), think about how you will execute as a team.

How will you delegate things and then track whether those things are done or not. How will you schedule meetings/conference calls/chats. How will be on the same page in terms of shared projects and who has to do what. When something has to be done for a project, will that show up on your calendar, due list or task list etc...

You will still need file/image/resource/web sharing because DL is not built for that.

Example: You make a project in DL and setup tasks, appointments, meetings to move it forward/manage it. You use AFP (Apple File Share) to share the spreadsheets (and other files). You link those files to the project in DL as file references.

@Paul AJ's suggested approach is a good one. I'm in a different situation than you in that I work with a consortium of professional colleagues in different fields--designer, photographer, illustrator, printer--when handling marketing/advertising jobs from concept to delivery. We live in different cities and use a system very much like what AJ described and Daylite works very effectively--whether the job originates in my shop or one of my consortium colleague's.
