What is the status of implementing bulk scheduling and bulk opportunities?

I am in sales, I find it very time consuming to do both for 100 + accounts.

Currently there no plans for changes like this in the near term.

But I'm not sure what you exactly need anyways. How would you bulk schedule something for instance?

AJ,

I have over 100 accounts who I sell the same group of products (twice a year). That means I have 100 opportunities. In turn I have to create the same opportunity 100 times! Again twice a year!

Also I would like to schedule a task (outbound phone call) to each and everyone. As of right now, I have to create 100 outbound phone calls.

I want to use DL only. I don't want to use other programs to track my opportunities. Having everything under one roof makes it easier and better to evaluate each account individually and as a group.

I believe the issue is you have a large group of contacts that you want to do something with like a marketing campaign.

What you really want to do in Daylite is to create one high level project or opportunity and apply it to all the members associated with the this campaign ... e.g. create instances of task, appointment, opportunity whatever... for each contact.

Currently Daylite allows you to select multiple contacts but instead of creating an instance per contact it links them all into one instance of the project or opportunity or appointment.

However to track each contact individually you have to create an instance per contact. The UI does not allow the batch creation of all these fine grain objects.

The point is this is incredibly inefficient, time consuming, and mind-numbing.

If I have a media list of 100 contacts and want create a marketing campaign to track them through a project with a pipeline I have to create 100 instances of the project, one for each contact and set this up. I then have to create a Smart List for each stage of the pipeline for this particular project (to be able to have visibility into the status of the overall campaign) and have everyone of my staff do the same thing!

Do you see the problem?

This is amazingly inefficient. I am pretty sure I can write a f-script or plugin to help with this, it just seems obvious to me that the product should offer batch operations as an option perhaps by holding down the OPTION key when choosing the action like create project etc.

Having the ability to do this would be a big step forward. The next step would to progressively disclose these details. What I mean by this is, under the Projects tab for example I want to see only one project called MY DVD MARKETING CAMPAIGN and not 100 individual projects who together make up the marketing campaign (these individual sub projects are details of the over all campaign).

Once you have dozens and dozens of campaigns or projects there is going to be a huge exposition of individual datums that makes things very hard to visualize and there is going to be an explosion of smart lists to manage this:

Ex: I have 20 campaigns using a pipeline with 10 steps with 4000 contacts. I end up with 200 smart lists and 80000 instances of projects or opportunities.

If these were sub-projects or sub-opportunities that would be sufficient to group these together and hide the details. The master project or master opportunity should have a way of reporting how many contacts are each stage of the pipeline.

I have ranted about this for over a year. The product doesn't scale for any significant size workflow.

If I am off base please let me know.

Andrew,

Thanks for your input. I appreciate the effort.

I am not a computer guy, I am a sales guy (who happens to love computers). I work in the sporting goods industry. My job is to sell both equipment, accessories, and apparel/footwear of a major soccer company. I have about 100 retailers who buy 6 months out twice a year. Unless one of these accounts has bad credit/goes out of business...I am going to have an "opportunity" with them.

I need to be able to create an opportunity for each selling season. Each selling season, (Spring 09, Fall 09, Holiday) begins on specific dates every year. My job is to schedule an appointment. Show the line. Get the order.

I like to track my success with each account individually. I like to create estimates to see where I could be and where I need to be. Also I need submit reports to the management team.

For now I am going to use excel in conjunction with DL. It makes it cumbersome.

I agree 100%. There is currently another hot thread going with this same request. I think it's really gaining some steam, so I hope Marketcircle is hearing our pleas!

Regards,

Howard
