I had his problem more times than I can count. My solution: (well, one of them):
First, did you ever do a back up? Can you find it? It should be in library/openbase/backup. If you don't see openbase in the library, just do a search and you'll see those folders at the bottom of the screen--and it will show up. Check that there is/are indeed back up files. Ok. In open base manager, highlight & click on your DB and and tell it to stop running. (I forget the right term.) Then, then, go to configure and rename your stopped DB. Like, um. , [DB name] date or something. THEN. back to Daylite. File-->Database-->restore backup. Go far enough back to something that worked. HOPEFULLY you will be able to log in. (you can see I've done this zillions of times). It seems you have to identify a back up date far enough back in time. If you have your mac doing a dot mac sync, turn it off. Having it on produced lots of problems for me, and things seemed to clean up when I turned it off. hope this helps. Pascha

Thanks Patricia! I will try it this afternoon after work and report. Glad to know I'm not the only one to have this problem.

Didn't have time to try it today, and probably won't for another couple of days! Arg, this is frustrating.

Shannon,
Did you try 3.5.1? A few people reported a similar situation and support has been helping them get over the issue with workaround. Other than the "canned" message you said you received earlier, have you gotten anything else from support? Support has been pretty diligent with these types of cases - they are even working overtime. |

AJ,
Since you are so responsive on the Forum, here's an easy one for you. While syncing my Mac and Treo using Daylite 3.5.1 and MissingSync, I am surprised that Daylite stays open and actually allows me to alter it. Is that a good sign or a bad sign? Many thanks, Fred |

I think I can answer this one. It is because in 3.5.1, the Treo syncs with apple's syncing services, not directly with Daylite.

Actually, Patricia, I'd already gone the backup database route before I upgraded but wanted to try it again to see if it would work after the newest build. I just haven't had the time. And to answer AJs question about support... I JUST got a response yesterday that they are just about to release 3.5.2, which should fix the problem. That's good since I have out of town company AND I'm house hunting (NO TIME TO WORK ON THIS RIGHT NOW!)

I finally had a little time to work on this. Couldn't sleep! Anyway, I restored the latest backup that I knew worked, and finally got in... but all my calendar data was lost, so I spent almost an hour importing each calendar category from iCal... and now I've got to recategorize them all. Also, all of my projects, smartlists, and reports are gone. What a big inconvenience and devourer of time. I've got a month's worth of new contacts to input that will take me a few hours... and a lot of cleaning up to do. I still haven't gotten word that the new build is out, and frankly, I'm afraid to ever update again!
I'll tell you what, I DID find some fantastic programs that sound much better and seem to have better support than this. I can't afford to be a beta tester with my precious time and money. Now that I've got my database restore and accessible, I'm probably going to migrate all the info to one of the programs I found at: http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/macsimum_...for_the_mac_part_iii Shannon |

Shannon, as you look at other systems, put the "backup" icon on your toolbar and backup, backup, backup.
Good luck as you move forward... ---------------- Patricia Sachs Chess "Pascha" 480.967.8700 pascha@social-solutions.com |
