Anyone know how to get a count of the contacts that are linked to anything other than a group?

(For groups, I can always follow the link from the group to one of the contacts in it, and then view the contact in 3-pane mode and select the group from the linked-to (2nd) pane, which then shows the number of members in the group in the detail (3rd) pane. But no other objects seem to tell you how many items are linked to them.)
