When I have several opportunities that I originally linked to a contact, when looking at the orginization's card, the contacts are linked, but the opportunities are not....
How do I fix this? |

Hi Paul,
You'll want to link the Opps to the Org as well as the Contact if you'd like to see the Opp while clicked on an Org. Opps are not automatically linked to the Contact's Org in addition to the Contact. Seems like they should be since most often one would want all opps listed for the org, even though different users deal with different contacts...

Paul,
In real estate, things are not most often linked to the company that a person works for. A prospect/client obviously has a job (i.e. organization they work with). However, the residential real estate opportunity will usually have very little to do with the organization they work for in the transaction. So…not everyone (in fact a lot) will need things automatically linked. But if Marketcircle were to add a feature for automatically linking organizations that an individual was linked to, then they would have to also designate a priority system like the one they use to designate which phone is the top phone choice. Because, many times, an individual may be linked to several organization for different roles. Examples would be job, small business they own on the side, church, board positions they hold at a charity or two. So…which do you automatically link to the Opportunity? *********************************** Macsimum News |

I think there is a glitch somewhere, because, I have contacts that I know are linked to the organization, and yet they don't show up when the org is selected in the middle column, but the contact card will display in the 3rd column....

Do you have any Duplicate organizations or contacts that they are being linked to mistakenly?

OK...
so when I link an opp to an org, and then send the estimate via email, I then have to go and search for the org to see which contacts are linked to the org to find out who to email it to. I would be simpler if when the opp, when linked to a contact, was automatically linked to the organization that the contact works for.... Seems like there is an awful lot of extraneous linking that needs to be done manually, which is time consuming and more crap I have to do. |

In my line of work, I sell to a buyer of a retail store or chain. Even though I am selling to the individual, I am really selling to the organization.
I perfer opportunities to be automatically linked to the organization. (or have that option). |

Yeah, that is how I was doing it, but then, there is usually are person that you are actually dealing with. If you click the send estimate button, with the opp linked to the org, you then have to go back and search the org and look up who is the person you need to send the estimate to. This is especially true with large databases.
To me, it seems that when an opp is linked to a contact, that it should also be linked to that contacts organization. I read some ones post on this that disagreed, but it really makes more cense. I agree with AJ, that opps should ultimately be linked to a contact (since you almost always have to deal with someone), but it also would be convenient when looking at an org, to be able to see ALL of the opps linked to different contacts of that org. Otherwise, you could just get rid of the org module all together and just have an org field on the contact card like Address Book. |

I guess I don't understand why you should have to go through those extra steps. Granted, it is only a few clicks, but when you are quoting lots of jobs to 10 or 15 contacts every day (as I am a contractor), combine that with have to create accurate bids (estimates), find out who I need to quote the job to (phone calls to the architect/engineer), then call those people to determine what the scope of my estimate to them should be, I am just damn busy. Don't get me wrong, I prefer daylite to salesforce and some such, but there seem to be lots of things that MC can improve upon. |
