In DMI, it seems the only way to link to anything other than a contact (project, opportunity, etc) is if I link a contact on the email to the project, opportunity, etc. Confusing I know so here is an example:
I have a project called "Johnson Upgrades" where I have Steve Johnson and Sue Johnson linked. I order a part from TigerDirect.com and get an email confirmation regarding the order. The DMI window doesn't show anything because the TigerDirect email address is not in daylight. The only way to link this order confirmation to the project is to create a TigerDirect contact email and link it to the project (several steps just to create a simple link). What I am getting at is it would be nice to have a "search" button on the DMI Mail drawer where you could search any project, contact, opportunity, etc. in Daylite and link that email to it. Regardless whether there is linked email address in the email. I seem to run into this several times a day where I would like to link an email so something but can't because I am limited to what I can link to based on the email addresses in the email. . Am I missing something here? . David |

Hi David,
Why not add the Tiger Contact email address to DL now and from this point on link that email address to new projects as needed (if you know you're ordering from TigerDirect in the future) and then use this tip I found here in the forums and just posted on my site... http://www.themactech.com/?p=70 Basically, it gives a quick method to link unrelated contacts to an email within DMI. I do something similiar to you as I order equipment through MacXprts for my customers and link my rep to the Project along with my customer. HTH |

Here's one way to do what you want:
While reading the email of interest (in this case from TigerDirect) select all and copy (cmd-a and cmd-c). Then go to the Services menu and choose Daylite:Make note with Text. A new note in Daylite will pop up. Click the "+" button to add a link, search it and add. It goes pretty quick. You could also add a shortcut to the Services menu to make it easier. Regards, Howard |

I 100 % agree with the original poster .
Personally I'm more interested to link mails to project/opportunities than to persons . The first solution links all mails to the "me" user, making this user "over-linked" The second solution looses the connection for further downstream mails that might come in ... |
