We have 6 users on our shared database. Why is it that when I create a project or opportunity that I cannot link any of the users. Of course I can link any one else who is not a user.

That sounds odd Emiliano. While only 1 user can be "assigned" to an Opp or Project, you can link the other users to the Opp using the "+" button if you're in the edit Opp window. You can also click the Link icon at the top of your window, or drag and drop Contacts to your Opp.
Hope this helps, Cynthia MacBook Pro OS X 10.5/Daylite 3.8 ______________________________________ Daylite Master Partner, Daylite Report Certified www.daylitehelp.com ______________________________________ |

Clicking on the + or on the Link icon opens up the link window. From this window I can link anyone in my contacts list EXCEPT for people who are also users. It simply does not find them when I type their name. It IS odd. But, if I put these users in a Group then I can link to the group. IS this a bug?

Emiliano,
Ok, looks like perhaps your user is set to "only access assigned and owned items". You can change this by going to Daylite>Preferences>Users & Teams. Click on your user, then click Permissions tab. Check the box called "only access assigned and owned items" so that it's on. Close Preferences and try to link those Contacts. Are you able to do a find for the users' Contact records in the database? Do they show up in that instance?

Do the users show up in the little rolodex card icon? When you are viewing an item's detail and you see the + at the bottom, next to it are two other buttons. One is resources and the other, little rolodex card, lists only Daylite users.

Oh rats Emiliano I just reread all of the posts and I told you to check "only assigned to..." to be checked and I meant to type that it should be UNchecked. Dang these typos, I'm sorry please UNcheck it and let me know what happens.
So sorry, Cynthia MacBook Pro OS X 10.5/Daylite 3.8 ______________________________________ Daylite Master Partner, Daylite Report Certified www.daylitehelp.com ______________________________________ |

The rolodex only shows up in an appointment or calendar item. And yes, they do show up from the rolodex card in the appointments or calendar items.

Hello.
Can you find them using the Quick Find panel (Apple-F)? If not, you probably need to rebuild the quick find index. This can be done from the Maintenance Preference pane in Daylite preferences. It can be a time consuming operation depending on how large your database is, if you can, run it over night while you sleep! Michael. |

Yes do let us know if the index rebuild works. Though you did say earlier that you were able to do a find for the contact by name. So I'll be curious if the rebuild does the trick.
Also, if you can try going the other way around with the linking: where you locate the user, click on the user, click the Link icon, search for the Opp/Project and link that way. I'm just curious if your setup allows this or if there's some combination of visibility preferences that's hanging it up. Is your user a Superuser in the Users & Teams pref? Thanks and have a great weekend, Cynthia MacBook Pro OS X 10.5/Daylite 3.8 ______________________________________ Daylite Master Partner, Daylite Report Certified www.daylitehelp.com ______________________________________ |
