When I'm in the appointment, I can highlight a bunch of upcoming appointments, in the middle column now shows who they are link to.

How can I highlight some of the "linked contacts" and be able to look up just them? (I know I could make them a group or make a smart list) Is there just something so simple I'm missing?

What are you wanting to do? I am not quite picturing it.

One thing that might be useful to you is to create smart lists in Contacts--to show people who have appts tomorrow, or this week, etc., or who are linked to tasks that are outgoing phone calls, etc. Working in the Contacts area enables you to have a good overview of the contacts' info. in the context of the tasks or appts.
