Here is a Lion compatible version of Daylite (v3.15) & DMI (v2.8).

NOTE: Do not upgrade to Lion if you are running Daylite Server on your computer (or whichever of your computers that is running Daylite Server)!!

On Lion, DMI v2.8 will be installed. DMI 2.5.4 will be installed on Tiger, Leopard & Snow Leopard.
DMI 2.8 is the same as DMI 2.5.4 except that it runs on Lion only. In terms of features, they are the same except DMI 2.8 no longer inserts rich text when doing a merge from within DMI (very very few people use this).

Daylite 3.15 Beta 1

Thanks.

Is this just a DMI update?

Or does this fix the problem with Lion *clients* connecting to Daylite *Server* (still running on 10.6) -- but with the server in a different subnet?

Hi Steve,

The link in the original post is for the Daylite Productivity Suite. This is both Daylite & DMI in one download. We will be updating the downloads page (http://www.marketcircle.com/downloads/) with a DMI only link a little later today for those who need it.

The answer to your question is yes. This 3.15 beta link is intended for customers that have been forced to update the *client* computers to Lion (or for people who have bought a new computer from today forward). We are not offering a Daylite Server 3.15 update at this time so we urge users not to update their server computer's OS to Lion until we make that update available.

We have more detailed information on Lion and how it affects Marketcircle software here on the blog:
http://www.marketcircle.com/blog/
(post from July 19th & July 11th)

Thanks!
Amin

I did a quick check with a Lion client connecting to my Daylite Server (10.6.8) in a different subnet using the 3.1.5 beta and it worked.

Will 3.15 *client* be released only when 3.15 *server* is available? Or will you be releasing the 3.15 client as soon as you sign off on it?

I think this is confusing.

It would be nice if you guys do the thinking ahead of time to make a very simple and clear download button for different scenarios. Skip all the "if, then, but, when, however, take three steps back and touch your nose" BS.

So what if I have the Server and Daylite on the same computer? I cant update to Lion? Are you going to give us an approximate release date? Or are we to just sit in limbo wondering if MC will ever get around to it?

If in doubt, don't upgrade. (Is that simple enough?)

There's no point in rushing to install Lion, it's not like there's an expiration date on your Snow Leopard install that's passed now that Lion has been released.

Beatle,

If you have Daylite Server and Daylite on the same computer, please do NOT upgrade to Lion at this time. Please do not assume that we are not taking action on this situation. We don't have a release date and have explained why Daylite server is not yet ready on the blog. Here is the direct link to the post:

Steve,

We will wait until Daylite Server 3.15 is fully compatible before releasing the final versions of both client and server. The reason we've made Daylite 3.15 beta (for client) available for download now is to help folks that don't have a choice on using a Lion computer. Like in cases where you buy a new computer and it comes standard with Lion installed.

Thanks,
Amin

p.s. I hope you don't mind but I edited your last post because you put 3.1.5 instead of 3.15 and I wanted to make sure people don't get confused on the versioning.

hi
I installed lion.
Obviously If I knew it before (with an email) i wouldn't have ever done it.
I have the Server and Daylite on the same computer.
I upgraded to version 3.15 beta Daylite you have given in this forum. I can't use it because it doesn't connect to the Daylite server admin; i read that the problem will be solved at the end of July.
Is there anything I can do in the meantime to be able to use Daylite?
thanks

Just to clarify, if I am a single user, then I can't upgrade because the server database resides on my same machine? Do I understand this correctly?

If I've already installed Lion, is there any way I can go back to Snow Leopard? I wasn't aware of this limitation for Daylite.

Hi Dmason,

Let me give the long explanation for anyone who sees this thread and doesn't know the background. Yes you've understood correctly, but it depends on whether you have a personal or shared database (this is regardless if you're a single user or multi-user). How do you tell if you have a personal or shared database? Well having Daylite Server installed is one clue that you have a shared database. But you can also tell by logging into your database and look for your database name at the top of the Daylite window in the middle. If you see 'databasename(personal)' you have a personal database. If you see 'databasename(shared)' you have a shared database. The main reason why a single user would be using a shared database is in situations where you have more than one computer (ie desktop and laptop) or in situations where you would like to use Daylite Touch.

Getting back to your scenario if you've already installed Lion then I wouldn't go back to Snow Leopard as I'm not even sure what that involves. I'm pretty sure you've indicated that you have Daylite Server installed and have one computer. People with a 'personal' database that have upgraded to Lion can just download Daylite 3.15 beta from the link in the first post of this thread (by AJ) and reinstall to restore access.

In your situation here's what you would to do to restore access to Daylite:

1. Reinstall Daylite Server 3.14 - http://www.marketcircle.com/downloads/daylite/
2. Install it
3. Then download the Daylite 3.15 beta by clicking the link in the first post in this thread (by AJ).
4. Install it
5. Open Daylite
6. Login to your database

That should give you access to Daylite. If you are using Daylite Touch as I suspected earlier, please note that it will not work until we make Daylite Server 3.15 available for download. We're working very hard to make this happen as quickly as possible.

Thanks!
Amin
