Not very user friendly!
I making the switch from PC to Mac and the only hold up is a good contact management software. I’m a photographer and I use ACT to manage potential clients I have over 1300 contacts. I use act to track all my direct mailings, phone calls schedule certain events and keep notes on each client. Act tends to be very user friendly, daylite on the other hand does not seem to be very user friendly or intuitive at all. I’m very technically oriented person when it comes to computer skills, proficient in all Adobe applications, web applications, html, java script and the list goes on, but daylite is not a very intuitive product. I can’t even find my custom fields that I created in ACT, yes I was able to port act over to daylite. Mark |

Mark,
As a most recent PC USER and ACT USER (over 10 years), Daylite can be a challenge. I completely understand. Both are good software programs and have their strengths-weakness. Daylite is also user friendly, but... 1. The learning curve (especially coming from ACT) 2. Different in Software Philosophy (some of that comes from MAC, not DL). I switched for good in July and I am still learning. By the way I have searched high and low on the Web for the best CRM software for MAC. I believe DL is the best and has the most potential. My opinion of course. Check out the support page for the tutorial movies, search the community forums, and of course read the manual. I even suggest playing around with a sample database to get the basic feel. One major difference between and ACT and DL is that DAYLITE only has 12 custom fields and 4 custom fields for dates. All the best - Christian. |

Hi Mark,
What sort of extra fields did you try to bring over into Daylite? When doing the import, where did you map these fields to? Have you watched any of our tutorial videos? If you'd like to contact me directly, rcash@marketcircle.com, we can further discuss Daylite and I can send you some useful getting started resources. __________________________ rcash [at] marketcircle.com |

Hi Mark, one year in for our company and we're still discovering better ways of working with daylite. It does, IMO, take a fair while to work out the best way of fitting it to your business. For example we recently added custom forms for all of our contacts so that we can track very specific activity in sales and other processes. Before this we were trying to use tasks to do this - it kind of worked but was difficult to manage. Now we're experimenting with using groups for tracking multiple interest areas for each client.
The bottom line is that the more you explore the features of the software, the more you'll get out of it. On the down side there are a few bugs floating around still but the Marketcircle team are doing a good job of sorting them out it seems! Giles |
