Good or bad, I'm in the practice of including the 4 digit year in files such as my primary Daylite database.

How do I accomplish DL2006 --> DL2007?

Why do you do this? It is better to keep the same database and its name and just run back-ups for security.

Scott -

Ok... so I've got no solid "reason" (other than past practice) to rename a database as a new year rolls around.

But I'm stuck with the problem that I've got the year 2006 embedded in the name.

I'd like to remove the year.

How do I do that?

So far I've not even been able to find where the silly database is hiding! Spotlight only finds the backed up files.

Hi David,
Do you just want to rename your database to take the "2006" out? I completely agree with J Scott that it's best to continue using your existing database and not start over every year but if you really want to create a duplicate with a different year I can post instructions on that.

Take care,
Cynthia

Use the OpenBaseManager for duplicating and renaming the database. It should be in your Application folder.

You'll probably need to "Stop" the database first, then "Configure" it to rename it. Then you'll need to change the name of the database you connect to in Daylite to match what you have changed the name to.

I have never done this with a Daylite database. So I would strongly suggest backing up your data first. Then, I would go so far as to duplicate the original database from within OpenBaseManger and trying out these changes on the duplicate. In fact, that should work well. Then you can connect to the renamed duplicate.
