Does anyone know if there is a way to have a contact smart list and a organization smart list as part of one of my groups? It seems you have to manually drag the smart list's contacts/organizations to the smart list to populate that group . . . . I was hoping the group would automatically be populated (by the group being linked to the smart lists, rather than each individual contact and organization)

Hi Bradley,
Your question really tied my brain into a knot! Could you explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish, not so much the method, but the goal. Thanks Regards, Howard |

Unfortunately I think Group Smart Lists only list groups containing the criteria specified.
So for example a Group Smart List with a search criteria of Contact -> Keywords=Vendors, would only list *groups* containing contacts that had a keyword of "Vendors". Not intuitive. I was expecting groups to allow groupings across types (e.g. over contacts and organizations and other objects too). So what you are attempting to do is perfectly logical I just don't think the UI allows you do that without making explicit links. I would prefer the groups to be dynamic based on criteria so I can change some meta data and have the contact or organization suddenly appear in the correct groups. Ugh. |
