When I click on click on an organization in the opportunites screen to schedule a task....why isn't the organization automatically linked?

My goal is associate the opportunity (Sales) with the organization (account) and the contact (buyer).

Ideally I would like review my opportunity list and begin to schedule follow up phone calls and/or schedule appointments.

Currently if I create a task/schedule appointment (activity set), I am left looking up both the contact and organization which I find a waste of "clicks."

Is there a solution? Am I doing something wrong?

I don't really use Opportunities, but since no one else has responded, I will give this a shot.

I found when selecting "new task" or "new appointment" from the organization or contact screen, there is a specific way to ensure the dessired contact is auto-linked.

Using the organization window in 3-column view as an example...

If you click on nothing, nothing will be linked when you select "new task." Even though an organization and contact look highlighted (gray background) they are not selected unless clicked on and have a blue background. (these colors may vary depending on your system setup)

If you click on an organization, only that organization will be auto-linked.

If you click on a contact name, both organization and contact will be linked.

This behavior seems to be consistent throughout most of the screens that I use. I imagine it might work the same in the situation you describe.

You are correct. However, if I am using opportunities (sales), and need to follow up with the contact (buyer)...I want the organization, contact and opportunity to be linked...with ONE click...not several. Especially if you are on the phone trying to schedule an appointment.

Also that way I can see the activity in the Organization's window. Otherwise it stays hidden in the opportunity window.

I appreciate your answer and help.

I think you can link appropriately the way you want using Ctrl-Click on the Opportunity and choosing from the contectual menu but it's still more than 1 click ...
