As we are used to many years in NowUpToDate and NowContact we appreciate many new features in Daylite. But a few things were much better in NowUpToDate and NowContact:
The NUD-Calendar just showed all entries at a glance like Daylite's smart calendar feature can. But a multi-linked event or appointment only appeared ONCE in NUD and not as many times as there are users liked to it. Imagine a calendar with regular staff meetings for 10 users! That clutters up with parallel entries no one can read anymore! That makes Daylite a single user application in this point. Data entry aids are a useful thing: but not in Daylite. Who needs north american phone number formats in Europe??? NC has the feature to edit that. Also in all Contact and Organization entry dialogs I miss the auto-fill feature from NC. Even the Salutation list is poor, because we have many other local salutations outside the U.S. and Canada!!! But these have to be entered manually EACH TIME NEW! The suffix: In europe titles like Dr., Prof., etc. are placed after the salutation but before the surname. So a different name for this field would be helpful, also a view modification in the contact details, because unlike North America we say "Herr Dr. Michael Berger" and not "Herr Michael Berger, Dr.". Useless for serial letters and bulkmails in Austria, Germany, France, ... Also the "grab" feature would be helpful in existing contacts after linking them to an organization! I hate manual typing! NowContact has a field for images. Nothing better than that! A lobbying agency like ours can simply draq website images of valuable contacts to the NC-contact. Daylite offers a lot of fields for entries but not an image field. Even if you want to copy a company's logo into the contact you can't. ThatÄs a big minus. Really no one here uses the AppleMail integration. It's nice to see the names and tasks in AppleMail but the note-appearance in Daylite is less than useful. All linked Mails have to appear next to the contact, otherwise no one will ever search for them in the deep dark vault of Daylite's note list. Improvement needed! And last but not least: NUD and NC automatically detected servers and if there was no server then you only needed one mouseclick in an automatic dialogue to work offline with a laptop. Daylite needs a manual going offline before leaving the server range. That's simply laaaaaast century technology. A big no-no for a fast lane enterprise like us. Result? Mobile users have started again to take notepads with them and have to type their notes into Daylite back in the office. Hey, developers, leave your warm and cosy offices and think about that, how to use Daylite without a network connection after you just closed the MacBook and buzzed off to an appointment P.S.: One way sync from Daylite to other apps (incl. full reset in that direction) to Addressbook and iCal would also be a big new feature. We get so many duplicates when users sync to their local Mac apps! So far the main wish list ... some others are up to follow. This message has been edited. Hi Stephan, I'm not sure what you mean here. Emails that are brought in from DMI do appear "next to"(actually right under) each contact they are linked to. You must select the "Activity" tab, that's all. Regards, Howard |

True, but not all related emails, only the most recent one and then you are again with no plan to find older emails at a glance. Stephan btw. That's just the smallest problem we have with Daylite CID Werbeagentur Wien |

You can do that in Daylite too. If you look right next to the Contact Name in the Details area, there is a "box" where you can drag an image to. Regards, Howard |

Sorry Stephan but that's not true. You can see all if you want to. There is a date filter drop down. Just set it to ALL. Regards, Howard |

So far about the image box, that works. Maybe not as useful as in NowContact because of it's tiny, tiny size, but there is one. I thought that's the box showing images from Apple's addressbook only.
But the date filter drop down in the contact view is still not there. Sorry. The interface of DayLite has some riddles left, still after 2 months working with 10 users. CID Werbeagentur Wien |

If you select the Activity Tab then you'll see just below it a search box and just to the right of that are 2 drop down menus, one to choose what type of object is displayed and the other the date range. Have a look! And try to be a little more patient. I know there are a lot of things lurking in the shadows of the interface, but if you persevere they'll come out and show you a good time. OK, you got me here - DayLite's vertical/horizontal interface paths are somehow new for us. I am a power user for 20 years on macs, so patience is definitely one of my virtues :-) CID Werbeagentur Wien |

Our office used to use the Now package and really liked it. We switched to Daylite because it offered so much more than those programs. However, there are features we certainly miss. One in particular is the the view of the week calendar in block view. Daylite's day view is great, the month view is fine, but the columnar week view is lacking. I know you can look at your appointments in a list view, but frankly, given that Daylite is such a visual program, I would have assumed that the block week view would have been included.
Also, I second the issue of the multiple calendar entries. If I look at the entire office calendar and there are four people going to an event, there are four entries. It loses something. Of particular note, if I make an appt. for the attorney, I also need to notify the secretary. But, the secretary isn't going to the appointment. In NOW, you could select who you wanted to invite and an optional person. Meaning, "you're not invited, but you need to know about it. Maybe Marketcircle needs to make an assistant version! AND, my biggest pet peeve is that if I make an appointment for someone and they already have another appointment schedule, I don't get a notification that there may be a conflict. This is inexcusable. I understand that it is possible for one person to have more than one appointment at a time, but I should, at the very least, get some kind of a notice. We have run into problems with this, causing people to REALLY not like Daylite. |
