When creating a new contact I hit grab to insert the main address and phone number. Once you do this you no longer have the Direct label for the address or phone number.
If at a later date I get a direct phone number is there anyway of adding the direct label
I delete and re enter the contact currently??

You can add labels in Preferences -> Labels. Select 'Phone' and add away.

You can add as many phone numbers as you like with as many different phone labels as you like.
