I am planning on installing Mail Steward which archives all email from Mail. It works like a database. Will this in anyway impact the ability to look up emails of a contact through DMI?

It should not. DayLite actually pulls in the text (and the attachments, if not "Stripped") to the DayLite database. So you can always see an e-mail's text that you have pulled into DayLite.

Now, if you are talking about the ability to go to the actual e-mail, from DayLite, that would be a problem. That would require a plug-in I think that facilitates the communications between Mail/MailSmith/DayLite to be sure that the correct message IDs (index identifiers) are passed between all apps and that there is a communications path that lets MailSmith and DayLite talk to each other.
