Does DMI archive mail that has been sent and is currently in the inbox or just outgoing mail? This is probably an elementary question but my DMI doesn't seem to be archiving email that I click on that was sent to me. Thanks.

Hi Greg,

DMI does not actually archive your emails. It simply creates a copy of the email and stores it as a Note (with the appropriate links) in the Daylite database.

Thanks!

Yes but when I check an email that has been sent to me, it does not copy and store it. When I do the same for mail I am sending it does. I was just curious if I have a setting off or if this is how DMI works. Thanks.

Greg,

I think I understand what your asking...

To make the link complete you have to click the checkbox...the pick another email other than the one you highlighted and (only) then it will register the "copy". You cannot click the link checkbox and then just hit delete...because it will not register he email and well it will be gone.

Hey Greg,

You can check out the DMI preferences in Mail under the Daylite tab to automate some of this but for DMI to link and store a copy of the email with a contact in Daylite, the email address must be attached to a record in Daylite, the checkbox beside the users name must be marked and you must move away from the email. An easy method is to create a "done" folder to drag complete emails too.

Hi Michael,

The done folder is simply a method to ensure you link your emails in Daylite (easy way of double checking). Some users delete all the emails from Mail.

Users who set up done folders can either clean it up weekly, monthly or simply archive the emails. Archiving emails are especially useful for users who strip attachments.
