Is there a way to offer better , faster refreshing of the database? Me and 1 other person are working in daylite all day and we have to click on and off navigation elements on the left to get newly entered things to show up. Sometimes we're entering things twice because we don't see that the other has already done it.
Any way to fix this? I would like any movement or focus on the program to refresh the database if possible.
This would be nice. I'm just a single user so I can tell, usually, quite quickly when my data needs a refresh. I've programmed a single button on my graphics tablet to refresh - very quick and easy. But in a situation like yours - two (or more) people entering information, I can see where this would be major.
I assume that it's not so much the database but the DL interface that needs refreshing when something is added, or simply refreshing periodically to take account of others entering data.
The problem I can foresee with the DL app constantly refreshing is that some views take a couple of seconds of beachball to show, so say if it was doing that every 5-10 seconds to give you a "live" view of the database, I can imagine what the users here would say!
I've had some people say that some info (that they have entered themselves) "doesn't show up without a restart" which I'm going to look into, but generally as long as you switch views fairly frequently I've not noticed too many problems. If, however, you have a Calendar window open constantly at the same view, then maybe an auto refresh every minute or two would be a sensible feature.

Chris, specifically which screen are you experiencing this problem with?
Also, are both users logged in as the same user on different machines or does each user have a separate login?
It should be that each user has a separate login.
From experience, I'm going to assume that you are looking at a multi-user smart calendar. If that is the case, then Nick is right - the refreshes are costly.

This happens on imports and potentially bulk edits. We've rectified the problem and the fix will be in the next release (sorry - no date).

We have 2 different users on a hardwired network. It doesn't seem to matter where you are customers, projects, tasks, or anything. If my partner is entering data I never see it until I use the left navigation to move between areas.
It's also worth noting that sometimes moving between the different main areas doesnt even help. I usually have to change from "Contacts" to "My Contacts" and then back to "Contacts" to get a refresh.
Go to Contacts and click on a contact and then click "New Project"
Now enter a name, etc and save it.
Now on the left, click the "Projects" icon to get to the projects screen. The new project isn't even there yet. You now have to click around in the left menu (projects, my projects) to get the new project to appear.
So I would be happy with a refresh on any click really. The minute I come into projects from contacts I should see that new project - dont you all agree?
I agree, but I just tested exactly what you said didn't work - and for me it did! The new project was immediately visible in the Project list. So something else is going on here.
I would love to know what is going on then because it still doesnt work for us and it's very frustrating. The sections also ALWAYS default to "My Projects" "My Opportunities" etc which cause even more view problems.

I believe MC indicated they'd be addressing this in an upcoming version such that it would default to whichever list type you looked at last in each view.
Regarding the need to move off of and back to an element to get a screen refresh:
This is very annoying…especially with multiple users since you don't know if something has been updated - thus you may not get needed information when you need it.
While I understand the performance issue with polling refreshes, it would seem that there might be a solution with Objective C messaging notifications. That might require more of an active role for a server component to keep up with what each user is viewing and what, if anything, has been changed. But I think it is something worth looking in to.

Understandable, and we're always looking for ways to improve this. One thing that *might* alleviate some pain at the moment for people is that there is the command File -> Refresh. (Keyboard shortcut is Command-R). Using this you won't have to click to another list and click back in order to have it refresh the list and associated views.
Here's what may be a dumb question from a new user, but does each person need their own log-in name and password? I've set it up the only way we could figure out with the manual for two users, which is that the second user uses the same log-in as me. How do you do it otherwise? (We are networked via airport, and I've changed the lease on the dynamic IP to 999 days to make it appear static. - all systems and updates are the latest)
