Has anyone tried using a thumb-drive (you know.. those small USB memory devices) for an offline database? I'm wondering if that would work to take my database home, work on it from my iMac and then bring it back to the office the next day.
Currently I copy a backup to the USB thumb-drive and bring it home, delete my online database with OpenBase Manager, restore the backup, move it into OpenBase with the utility, then start it. If I make any changes, I have to completely reverse the process. Comments? |

Looks like no one has tried this. Any idea how I should proceed to try it out? (I know - make a backup!)

One thing that concerns me is that the data transfer rate of a thumb drive is no where near that of a hard drive (at least the ones I've tried). That might mean that the database performance could be annoyingly slow.
