Is there any reason for auto backup reminders for those of us using Time Machine? Being we backup a DL copy to DVD every week, is there a way to turn off the BU reminders?

Please note that Time Machine should not be used to create backups of a Daylite database - database backups should be done using Daylite or through automated backups done by the OpenBase Manager utility. Relying on Time Machine for backups may result in corrupt database since database file could be modified during the Time Machine backup process.
There isn't a way to turn off the reminder, which should only occur on the machine hosting the database, and only if you haven't backed up the database in the last 5 days. This is to ensure you'll have a recent backup should any catastrophe happen to your data. Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation. Not sure what to do? Get help for windows and dialogues by click on the help button found in the bottom corner. |

I think there should be an option to turn off the reminder or it should be turned off automatically, if one has activated the “backup every… days” in OpenBase manager. I have activated this option and OpenBase creates a backup every day into the backup folder on my machine. Every few days, my backup software (not TimeMachine) creates a backup of the “backup“ folder to a external disk. So my backups should be pretty fine but I still get this annoying reminder and I get it for years. Why not make the backups simply work, enable to set up the backup interval and location directly in Daylite’s preferences (so the user doesn’t need to search for the options in OB Manager) and keep the reminder silent if the backup already is created by OB? The way it works now is neither good nor very Mac like. |
