Hi,

When I am creating a group and am searching for contacts to add to this group I would like to be able to choose them all at once rather than having to continually having to choose + then link then + then link. Is there a way to select all the contacts you want to wish in one go and then press 'link' ?

many thanks
Becky

The answer is yes! There are a couple of neat things you can do, depending on how you are selecting the contacts to begin with. It's helpful to know how to do both contiguous and non-contiguous selection of objects (i.e. contacts). It follows rules in Daylite similar to the Finder. So with the SHIFT key down you can select a range of objects and with the COMMAND key down you can select by clicking on non-adjacent objects. So the first step is selecting (highlighting) the contacts you want to add to a group.

If it's a new group you want to create, then select all of the contacts and choose "New Group For X Objects" from the Create menu. If the group already exists, you would use the drag, hover, drop, technique. Here's how that works:

1. Select the contacts to be added
2. Drag them to the upper left over the "Navigator" boxes and hover over the Groups view icon. After a couple of seconds it will change the view automatically to Groups and you then drag the contacts to the right and drop them over the Group of your choice. It's similar to dragging and hovering over a folder in the Finder which then springs open so you can drop a file inside.

Another trick that might work in some cases is to set the view to Groups and then select contacts from the QuickFind window. Then just drag and drop them from there to the Group.

Another method could be to work within 2 open windows, one set to Groups view and the other set to contacts view. Then just drag from Contacts view over to the Groups view and drop them over the correct Group.

I hope that helps!

Regards,

Howard
