I am curious to know how others deal with duplicates during imports.
We import several hundred contacts and organizations to our database weekly and what happens is we wind up with: XYZ Co., Inc. XYZ Company XYZ, Inc. When we clean the list we try to delete as we go along, but if a blank contact was created during an import, it winds up floating around lose in the database after we delete the linked Organization. Is there a better way, I hope... |

Instead of deleting the organization records, have you tried to combine them? This would keep whatever contacts that are linked to each organization liked to the new combined one.

I only see a way to search for duplicate contacts, is there a way to search for duplicate organizations?

Hey Guys,
Since Daylite only has a Contact Duplicate Checker, if you want to go through your organizations and check for duplicate, here is what you can do. 1)Go to the Organizations View in Daylite. 2)Select the Organizations source list. This will display all the organizations in your database. (taken you are the Super Admin or there are no private records. 3) Select the list view in Daylite, by going to the View menu at the top and choosing List > List Only. This will organize your organizations in a simple list view. If in the list view, you only see one field (like the name) go to the View menu at the top and choose List > Column Options. Here you can add more information to the List view. Adding information columns such as Address, Country, Phone 1, Phone 2 and/or Electronic can help you sort through multiple organizations and see details. 4) Arrange your information by clicking on the Name column header to sort the information alphabetically in either ascending or descending. Now you can go through the list and check to see for any duplicates. The ability for a function similar to Locate Duplicate Contacts, but for Organizations, is a feature request at this time. Thanks! Once you find duplicate organizations, highlight them both and choose Edit > Combine 2 Organizations to combine them.
As Sean mentioned, there's no option to automatically search and locate duplicate organizations at the moment. Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation. |
