I am starting to set up DayLite for a new business venture that includes working with estate agents.
I am not sure how best to work with estate agents that have multiple branches.
My current approach is to have each branch as a separate organisation and putting the branch name in brackets.
Each branch may potentially have more than one contact.
Any recommendations on the best approach would be appreciated.

What you suggest is a good idea. We often recommend something similar because it helps when you do quick searches and linking.

You can also choose to link the branches to their parent using reciprocal relationships (organization to organization) with something like "is branch of" and "is parent of".

Convention I've been using for many years...

XYZ Company - New York
XYZ Company - Chicago
XYZ Company - Dallas

and so forth

It's obviously impossible to remember what city a branch is in.

But Daylite's powerful search finds you the entire list of XYZ Company with typically 3 keystrokes. Once you have that list of all XYZ locations, memory kicks in & you can more likely remember "Joe Smith in New York." At least that's how my brain functions.


I pretty much avoid using extra characters. Most I'll do is this: Computer Science Corp. (CSC). I would do IBM Corp. rather than International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) since that's just too much typing.

I had not used the relationship feature before and can find several uses for it.

You could always break them up and create groups as well.
