As far as I can tell this is not directly possible - but anyone know how to merge a form into Mail app that includes either an attachment or a hyperlink?
I am trying to automate some of our sales processes, and it would be a huge benefit to be able to to do this. As is, any time I add either a hyperlink or attachement the mail turns into a .tif image.
Yes Dan - love to know answer to this question; at moment it seems solution is to use MailDrop or DirectMail which integrates with Daylite - but doing that you lose a record of the history of that particular activity. Surely there is an answer, because this is such a basic need for Sales related emails

Yup- I am with you. I can certainly do that, but that is probably an even longer process.
If you have to send a standard "Canned Response" email to X people per day and not in a big batch, and the email includes links and/or attachements (but not an entire merged letter as an attachment) then this is a baffling system.
Would definitely be a great marketing/sales automation feature.
this has been on my wish list for a couple of years now. the pdf/merged email thing is my biggest annoyance with daylite - not a deal breaker though. :-)
I have tried creating a plugin to do it, but wound up wasting a whole lot of time. In the end it is faster for me to do the merge manually.
We are working on a solution for both the attachment and hyper-link issue.
As a workaround for adding an attachment to e-mails. You can drag and drop a file into the Mail signature. Select this signature when you want to add the attachment.

I'm trying to use the mail merge for a mailing to approximately 350 contacts. I created the template and pasted in an html "flyer". This flyer has 5 hyperlinks. In my saved template they work. Sure enough I practiced a mail merge using this template on a couple of test names and all of the hyperlinks do not work.
I'm a fairly new user to Daylite but is this the problem that some of you are referring to? (BTW I'm on DL 3.5)
If this is correct how can I send this flyer out? Use the old "bcc" trick? Ie; select all of my contacts for "write e-mail" and then copy/paste all of the e-mails into bcc? and send that way?
Scott, I'm just a noob around here but I think if you do your merge from within DMI, you can check the box that says "insert as rich text" when the merge window pops up to let you select the letter template.
I just learned today that you can do this so here it is briefly, assuming you have some templates set up using the daylite letter editor:
1. open an email 2. highlight the contacts in the dmi tray (after you have put their email addresses in the To: section) 3. click on the activity cog in the lower right of the tray; click on merge 4. select your template and select "insert as rich text"

This was from November of 2006. Is it possible to do a large email merge and attach a file yet?
Thanks!

From the deafening silence here I would take this as a NO?
I have tried the using the sig with Apple mail but it sends without a sig even if the mail is setup to use one. If you write the email in Daylite it is fine on both PC and mac but if you try to embed say a PDF or image in the daylite editor email on PCs the whole thing converts to PDF so there is no actual email msg just an attachment. It seems there is no viable way to do a mail merge with an attachment? Is this correct? If so I wish I had worked this out before I bought my licenses. It seems like such an essential part of any CRM IMHO
