Suddenly, out-of-the-blue, I've got a red dot at about 2 o'clock with a "1" in it on the DL icon in the dock.

I've looked at help under "red dot", "dock icon" & "dock" (absent any clue as to what it is) & found nothing.

What is this red dot?

Hi David,
Similar to how the Mail application indicates unread messages by putting a number on the Mail dock icon, Daylite show how many unread Notifications you have. To see your Notifications in Daylite choose Window>Notifications. Notifications include Appt or Task reminders, delegation updates, Appt invitations, etc

Hope this helps,
Cynthia

That at least gives me a direction to hunt in.

When I do Window>Notifications, all I get is a totally empty Notification pane.

Any ideas on where/how to hunt down the source of what turns on the "1"?

To my knowledge, Notifications is NOT functionality that I use in DL (which means I must be using it somewhere inadvertantly, without consciously knowing what I was doing).

Hi David,
It's definitely used to indicate the Notifications; the 1 with an empty Notifications window is likely indicative of a refresh issue (obviously if the Notifications is empty the 1 shouldn't be there). Were you by chance logged into another database then logged out of that one and into this currently-logged-in one? I've noticed if I do that, the Notifications indicator is still showing me the status of the database I was *previously* logged into.

Take care,
Cynthia

Nope.

So far I use DL in minimalist mode... a single database, Organizations, Contacts, Notes, Email (DMI) & Calendar only.

But I don't do anything "fancy" like using Projects, Opportunities, Groups, Tasks or Appointments.

What does seem to solve my situation (annoyed by that mysterious red "1") is logging out & logging back in. Zingo! Gonzo.

Thanks!! You've been most helpful (he says sheepishly... why didn't I at least try that solution?).
