I wonder If there is an option to automatically show the birthdays of those Contacs in my DL database where the birthday field in the "Extra" tab is filled with a date. iCal does this for example, if you filled the birthday field in Address Book. That seems the only way for mee to not forget when a person has birthday.

Hi Stephan

Unfortunately Daylite does not currently show these contacts' birthdays in the calendar. However, we are looking at how best to incorporate this in a future release.

Thanks,

adam

This would be nice for birthdays, as the only contacts I put birthdays in for are friends or relatives. But I don't want it to automatically show for Anniversaries (if this is being integrated along with birthdays). As a photographer, I use the Anniversary field to track my wedding clients. I don't need to see these on my calendar view, and if that's going to be integrated, please make it an option. But I would like to Anniversaries for Smart Lists.

This would be helpful for any extra date fields, as well.

My thoughts are similar. It would be nice to track people's birthdays and anniversaries. To be useful though there needs to be a field to make the distinction to "publish" or not. Then I would like to search on the "published ones" or allow the published ones to go to ical to remind me. Might be nice to have a built in reminder in DL as well.

I agree with you. To be able to to list the Birthdays in the Calendar would be very useful.

1. It would also be very useful to be able to do this with the anniversary dates too. For example you could use this to record account or membership renewal dates.

2. In fact it would also be helpful if you could use the Birthdays and Anniversary Dates in the smart lists. you could then list up all the Birthdays/Anniversaries that are coming up.

3. Furthermore I would like to be able to set a reminder task to remind me of someone's Birthday or anniversary.

I would like to use DL to manage my personal contacts. Therefore, it would be helpful that DL starts an mail-client with one of x standard texts when a birthday happens. That will make my communication easier.

If I understand the problem correctly, I may have a solution and with a little help from the developer this should work.

Here are screenshots to explain the process ...
http://homepage.mac.com/wpd5/filechute/Birthdays.dmg

The reminder alarm within DL just needs to have the box 'checked'.

An odd thing is that the iCal has two birthday calendars, the 'blue' one is from my entering the birthday info into AddressBook. The 'green' one is from my 'checking' the iCal preference box for birthdays.

The weird thing is that only the 'blue' calendar was imported into DL.

It's there ! DL just needs to import iCal's alarm settings for the birthdays.

Hope this helps.
