We have a Public Beta for Daylite 3.7.6 available; this release has a some fixes, and aims at improving the reliability of online/offline syncing, and how online/offline sync failures are reported and handled:
- some extra checks have been implemented to properly report the proper cause of a sync failure - more robust handling of detected problems during sync - a sync failure no longer forces a restart of Daylite; Daylite will remain online or offline and allow you to continue working Release Notes: - Improved offline synchronization reliability and how synchronization failures are reported and handled. - The contact detail will now show the contact's default organization in all views. - When merging with the iWork suite, merged documents now remain open when choosing 'Open in Editor.' These are the only features planned for this release. Download links: Daylite Daylite Productivity Suite Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation. |

Stop! Please don't roll that into the product! What I do with IWork is a large merge, which creates a hundred or so IWork documents in a single merge. I then use an Automator action to convert those documents to PDF, then merge them all together into a single pdf. Then I email my assistant to print. I don't want to have to close Pages documents manually after every merge! It is a real problem in Pages merge that the results of the merge go as a multiple print jobs, at least with the printers I use at work. The overhead/job is quite large even though (or because) we have high end lexmark printers. If you were to add a merge-to-pdf feature rather than merge to printer it would all be fine. I would appreciate that with daylite built in merge too. |

We'll add a 'Do Nothing' action - this will allow for merging without taking any action with the resulting merged documents.

Will this work with email? I am thinking I could run an automator action or applescript (or F-Script) on emails to attach a document before they are sent. |

The 'Do nothing' action will be part of the same pick list as the email actions, so they'll be mutually exclusive.
However I think you'll be able to do what you want by selecting 'Open in Email client', as this will create new messages with the merged document for each contact, but not yet send them. You could then initiate your script to act on them. Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation. |

Well, that's tough if I have 100 to send out all the same, except for addressee. |

Do I need to do anything special to my existing DB before I install the beta?
Thanks. |

AJ, I like how additional contact information is available in the info pane.
I still feel that when view an organization in 3 pane mode (whatever that is called) all opportunities should be visible for the contacts in which that is their default organization. I guess a fix for this would be this: I agree that an opportunity should be linked to the organization and not the contact (since they move around, etc.) but when emailing an estimate when it is linked to an organization, you have to get back out of the email, and search the contact linked to that org. Why not just have the opportunity auto (like tasks do) to the org, so you can see all opportunities for that org (regardless of the contact). Just makes cense to me. |

I think a really cool feature: locking a an estimate. I have more than once accidentally deleted a line item by clicking the - button instead of the / button. There should be a check box that easily allows for the (estimate) opp. to be edited or not editable.
