Most of my contacts have default roles. For instance, "Architect", "Contractor", "Civil Engineer", etc.

When I am linking these contacts to a project, the default role does not present itself. It is always "Participant" and I then have to manually select the role.

Is there a trick I am missing here?

Hi Darren,
Contacts can have different Roles when they're linked to Orgs, Project, Opportunities. So a Contact can have the Role of Architect when they're linked to Org A, but when you link the same Contact to a Project or Opp, you can choose a different Role, like Decision Maker etc. Check out Daylite>Preferences>Roles & Relationships to define the Contact Roles.

I understand this. What I am wanting is that when I select the contact in the Link area, that it use the default role that I have set for that contact so I can just click on the link button instead of selecting the role then selecting the link button. Was hoping to save some time there. The role for my contacts tend to stay the same for my projects.

Why create a default role for a contact if it doesn't show up that way upon selection? I know it can easily be selected as something else.

There's a simple answer for this: there is no default Role for the Contact in terms of the Role pulldown. I think you're referencing the checkbox when the Contact is linked to the Org that states 'this is the default role'?. The concept of the default Role is really saying 'this Org is the Contact's primary/default Org'. You'll notice that checkbox only appears when you're linking the Contact to the Org (as opposed to when you're linking the Contact to a Project).

So I guess the verbiage on that checkbox should really say 'this is the default Org'. I never thought about that, but you're right, it can be confusing!

Yes. I would desire that the role pulldown present a default role for the contact. I waste time selecting from the pulldown list when linking to projects and opportunities.
