Hi Guys,

this is an annoying issue and so far I was unable to find any solution....

We are running 3 licenses on 3 Mac's. The iMac is the "server" and 2 other laptops are connecting to the database on the iMac. I am using Airport extreme and the iMac is connected to the station by cable the two Powerbook are connected wireless. In order to load the database I have to switch off the firewall on the iMac (server) and the Powerbook. After logging in I can re-activate the firewall.

The new Apple firewall does not allow a certain port opening and I have placed Daylite under always allowed connections but so far no solution.

Can anybody help??

By the way is it important to use the Apple firewall anyway?

Thanks

Best regards

Ralf

Try this:

- in your Leopard Firewall, set the restriction to "Set access for specific services and applications"
- This should trigger Mac OS X to ask if you want to enable access to certain processes (openinfo, openexec and OpenBase), for each one, select Allow.
- Once done, you should see these listed in the list in the Firewall pane, and should be able to connect from other machines

Let us know if this works for you.

Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation.

Hi Sebastian,

thanks for your comment but I have openinfo, openexec and openBase in my firewall pane and all are set to "allow all incoming connection" and I did that on all my Mac's. I have also included the Daylight programm itself in the pane with all connections allowed.

Despite the above settings I have to disable the firewall start Daylite and log into the database first and then I can engage the firewall again.

Regards

Ralf

To clarify, the "processes to add" e.g. the executables to add to the "Set access for specific services and applications" are:

/Library/OpenBase/bin/openexec
/Library/OpenBase/bin/openinfo
/Library/OpenBase/bin/OpenBase

I am trying to access Daylite remotely and I have already punched a hole in the external firewall to allow ports 20220 to 20300 to be passed through to the server.

Anything else?
