Users with an Offline database:

You must first synchronize the Offline database with the Online master BEFORE you proceed with the upgrade!

Note: If you perform the upgrade on the Server/Host computer BEFORE you perform a sync with the existing Offline database, you will NOT be able to synchronize the Offline database afterwards! If this best practice protocol is not followed, and you attempt to update the Offline database to Daylite 3.5 and synchronize it with the Online, you may encounter loss of data, duplicate entries, and possible corruption to the host database file!

When you have successfully performed the Offline sync, the Offline database should then be stopped and deleted using OpenBase Manager (instructions how to do this are highlighted in this knowledgebase article "How do I delete a database "

  • When you have deleted the Offline database, upgrade the computer/server that hosts the master Online database using the steps above.

  • Upgrade all applicable remaining computers to Daylite 3.5.

  • Launch Daylite 3.5 on the client/remote computer, connect to the main Online database and go Offline (from the Daylite menu bar select File -> Database -> Go Offline)

  • An alert will appear advising you that Daylite is unable to locate an Offline database and to create a new one. Click on 'Yes' to proceed.

  • Enter your Mac OS X admin password to authenticate yourself, and click 'OK'.

When done, Daylite shows an alert 'Successfully transitioned to the offline database'. Click 'OK' to continue working.
