Hello, apologies if these items have been posted before, but i can't find anything relating to them, for the exception of tasks and the fact that they don't appear in iCal.
1. Why don't tasks appear in the calendar? By all logic, when I need to perform a task, I would like to have it on a calendar so that I can visually verify it and arrange for the task to be completed. I understand that iCal ToDos (which I cannot understand why their equivalent is "tasks" in DL), also do not appear in the calendar, but just because Apple's implementation is crappy, doesn't mean that DL need to follow suit by making *their* implementation crappy. Speaking of tasks, when I delegate to another user of the database, it doesn't appear in iCal on the sidebar. Only the ones that are not delegated appear. How am I supposed to keep track of this through iCal? When I'm at work, I use iCal to inspect what needs to be done, since I'm not interested in having to sync the offline database with the server every day, inorder to see what needs to be done. Needless to say, delegated tasks are very important to me, so this is a major PITA. 2. There is a bug in extra date fields, particularly in field # 2. In Prefs, I renamed it "Date of accident" and all I get when I want to enter data by creating a new contact, is "Date of." Very annoying. 3. How does a user get rid of the pesky time (12:00) in the extra date fields? The result in merged letters is something like: : 2008-01-23 00:00:00 -0400. I have created letters that merge these fields, and there are at least 12 places where I have to go and manually erase the time. Very annoying also and what a waste of time. I might as well do my reports manually, it would probably take me less time. Furthermore, when are the good folks at marketcircle going to offer FM connector at a reasonable price so that more people will use it? Whomever made the, IMV, boneheaded decision to charge more for a plug for the program than the program itself, needs to rethink this. Sorry for the length of the post, but I needed to get these items posted so that I could get answers. TIA |

About #1: I believe (but not sure) that Daylite predates iCal, and 'Tasks' is the name they had chosen (which I prefer; after all 'ToDos is not a word).
And about delegation - you'll need to review the sync manual again; you have to remember that Daylite is multi-user, whereas the sync stuff (Address Book, iCal, other stuff that syncs) is single-user oriented, so trying to 'mesh' the two together probably wasn't an easy task. Also, delegation is a Daylite concept, not an iCal one, so if you need to track stuff you'd need to do it in Daylite (it's designed for that). For #2: That's probably due to the flexibility of the software - that field can be renamed to anything, but there's probably limited space in the UI (I think it's getting cut off - try renaming it to 'Accident Date' instead. #3 Sorry can't help you...
Umh, I think that's going over the line there. It's probably geared to businesses more than individuals. Regardless that's no reason to mouth off like that. |

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. Expressing one's frustration over the pricing of a product is hardly "mouthung off." And I do *own* a business that relies heavily on FMP and before I invested into Daylite, I was told that a plugin that would connect DL and FMP would have been available, shortly. I can understand that MC wants to make money, we all do, but we need to be fair and not charge 300 bucks for an applescript. Thanks again and I'm hoping a representative of MC will respond to my post also. It's been there for 4 days now. |

I'm sure being called a bonehead is not flattering. On the other hand, maybe you missed the fact that I didn't call anybody a bonehead.
And thanks for stating the obvious, i.e. that I'm entitled to my opinion. I feel much better now. |
