I am frustrated by Daylite.
I installed 3.5 and completed the whole process successfully. Opened my Daylite database and STILL HAVE PROBLEMS!!! Here's what's happening: Open Contact > Task > Status click "Done" > click "OK" which highlights but does NOT activate. I can not close the task because it doesn't register that the task has been completed. I tried this with several tasks but NO response when "ok" is clicked. I am not happy with Daylite at this point. I am losing time & money. Anne |

Anne, I'm sorry but what you wrote is hard to understand.
What do you mean by this: Open Contact > Task > Status click "Done" Please try to explain it in full sentences because that doesn't make sense to me. From which list are you doing that? Regards, Howard |

Thanks Howard, when I open Daylite these are the steps that result in the malfunction:
1) Click on ORGANIZATIONS 2) Click on CONTACTS 3) Click ACTIVITIES 4) Open a pre-scheduled TASK 5) Click on STATUS 6) Scroll to DONE 7) Click bottom right button OK Nothing happens. The OK button does NOT activate. I am left with an open task and no way to close it. The top left color coded circular buttons that usually show as red, yellow, green do NOT include red giving me no option to close the window. If I try this with several tasks each one behaves in the same manner & I am left with lots of open task windows with no way to close them. Anne |

Hi Anne
Have you sent a support ticket or report a bug from help menu in DL? I would try that, sounds like a bug of some sort or a bad prefs on your end. Try quit DL and then go to hd/user/your account/library/preferences/com.marketcircle.Daylite3.plist and trash this pref and then restart daylite. See what happens |

Anne,
Indeed there seems to be a weird condition going on here. Launch Daylite and hold the option key until you see the main menu. Then go to Help -> Email Log Files... Sent that to use and we'll take a look at the logs. That should help us identify the problem. |

Hi Anne,
Been working till a little while ago so couldn't respond. I am still a little concerned that I don't understand a couple of things in your steps. First of all, why are you clicking on Organizations and then on Contacts? If you want to see contacts there is no need to click on Orgs first. Second, when you say in step 4 "open a pre-scheduled task", do you mean you double click on a task in the Activity list and it opens into an edit window? If so, what do you see before you use the Status list? Is the OK button a bright blue and pulsating color? If not, what color is it? What happens if you open that same task fro the task list instead of from the contact's activity view? Might be worth a try to see what happens. Also, when you open up the task's edit window, who does it say owns the task? Does it say "Me". Just trying to get to the bottom of this with the most detail you can offer. Thanks! Regards, Howard |

Thanks Howard, I'll try the things you suggest. I go to Organizations first because I have several contacts & need to view all before I hightlight the one I need to call.
New business is my priority & at this point Daylite is causing me to fall way behind my follow up. Anne |

HELP!!! I just did exactly as you said & trashed the preference com.marketcircle.Daylite3.plist Now I can't even log in. Here's what's happening: Entered: Username and Password Select a Connection (I matched what had previously been set by the Premier Parter) Computer: 127.0.0.1 Database: Daylite1 The LOGIN button is not highlighted, it's grey, & therfore does not activate when clicked. I am FRANTIC! Shall I put the orignial preference back? Anne |

Anne,
Good to hear you saved the original pref file. You have to watch things like captitalization and spaces. Are you sure you are getting the user name and password exactly right? Did you write it down somewhere? Does the person or company that set it up for you have a record of it? If all else fails, then do put back the original pref file and see if you can log in. It should work. Regards, Howard |

Ok Howard, panic over I didn't have use the old preference, I logged in without changing anything! btw I'm in Hollywood, CA.
To answer your questions: 1) Why are you clicking on Organizations and then on Contacts? It's easier for me to select a contact while viewing all contacts withn the organization. 2) in step 4 "open a pre-scheduled task", do you mean you double click on a task in the Activity list and it opens into an edit window? Yes. 3) If so, what do you see before you use the Status list? Is the OK button a bright blue and pulsating color? If not, what color is it? No, when I open the activity the 'OK" button is always grey. As I keep clicking on it, it may flicker blue for a nano second. This happens with any and all tasks, whether I click on a task from the NOTIFICATIONS window or a click on a task from the Contact ACTIVITY window. It does not allow me to update data and the button is always grey. It's the same if I try to edit CONTACTS or ORGANIZATIONS. 4) What happens if you open that same task from the task list instead of from the contact's activity view? Might be worth a try to see what happens. The same thing - the 'OK" button is grey. 5) Also, when you open up the task's edit window, who does it say owns the task? Does it say "Me". Yes it says "ME" I emailed a log file to Oscar of what's happening but always get a standard response & didn't ever recieve a specific response to my original enquiry & I can't wait another 2-4 days! Hi Anne,
Sorry, this is obviously a bummer and now beyond the scope of what I (being nothing more than a nosey user) can help you with. I would pressure Oscar to get you an answer. I know they are swamped at this point, but I'm sure that they will get you going. I just hope it's not something obvious that is staring us right in the face! Regards, Howard |

Thanks Howard, Michael & AJ for doing your best on helping with this.
Just my luck to get some unusual occurance that noone can seem to solve! Really appreciate this forum which Daylite's customer service was more expedient! Anne |

Hi Anne,
Since you are new to Daylite I just want to mention one thing. In the years I've been using it Marketcircle has been consistently responsive and helpful. Because of the recent releast of 3.5, which added Sync to the features, things have been very atypical. I'm sure this is because Syncing data from a program like Daylite, which is by design a multi-user environment, to Addressbook and iCal (and even phones and Palm handhelds), which are all inherently single user, is very far from being trivial. As a result there have been an unusual number of problems cropping up. I know that Marketcircle is working very diligently, nearly round the clock, to solve all of this and pretty soon we are bound to be back to the stable, trouble free application that most of us have come to know and love. So in other words, please try to hang in there - there is light at the end of the tunnel, even if it's not obvious yet! Regards, Howard |
