3.7.6 was supposed to improve syncing, but for me it is much worse that 3.7.5. Daylite is crashing regularly during sync. Sometimes it will hang and have to be force quit, sometimes it offers to send a message, but doesn't. Most irritating of all, when I do a quit, it starts syncing, without asking, and then has to be force quit.
What it is doing when it works is duplicating records, and duplicating addresses within records. My truth database is now a mess. Yes, I have backups, but that is hours of wasted time to straighten everything out again.
I have sympathy for any company trying to implement AB syncing. SpanningSync is having problems, Plaxo is having problems, and most of all, Apple is having problems. I think this multiple application syncing idea is not ready for the market.
Here I am replying to my own post. I can hardly express how upset and frustrated I am that Daylite starts syncing on quit. I'm right now waiting to shut down so I can go to another place, and I can't because Daylite is syncing, and has been for 20 minutes. Quit should mean quit, period. If you want to provide an option to do a sync update before quitting, fine, but forcing the user to sync is a horrible offense. 3.7.5 didn't do this to me.
I also thought that 3.7.6 was supposed to fix the sync problems. Because of that, I turned syncing back on for the first time in a while. I started by syncing calendars... it went through the process, but nothing synced. Events entered in iCal to not sync to DL and events entered in DL do not sync to iCal.
Selected "Synchronize" from the Action menu and sometimes it will complete, sometime hangs with the "never ending sync" problem, requiring a force-quit.
Same issue for me, running clean install of 10.5.4 and Daylite 3.7.6. I have to force quit Daylite at least once a day. I am only syncing contacts because I need them on the iPhone.
I am experiencing; missing appointments, tasks that I did complete but after syncing...they have been unchecked, tasks that I rescheduled have changed back...the list goes on!
I've been having the same exact hanging sync issue for a long time. I've been told to reset the 10.5 isync and reset Daylite sync. No change. I have submitted my sync log and am waiting to see what they say. As it stands, I am using iCal now more than ever to view/enter/sort my appointments and *hoping* they make it into Dayite where i can link them to projects. It's not exactly productive, but I do it so my iPhone has correct appointments.
Off-topic, I think after all of this time I've been in DL, I think I'd prefer a drawer in iCal/Mail/AddressBook and only an Opp/Project tracking UI in Daylite so there wouldn't have to be this big sync thing going on and a second, redundant database on my system.
I'm not sure where you folks are getting the info from, but the release info for 3.7.6 mentions only updates for the offline synchornization; it doesn't state anything about iCal/AB sync. Maybe I'm missing something.
We had one user report back to us that after diagnosing the issue with Apple, it turned out to be an iCal issue where its cache files were not being deleted properly. The resolution in his case was:
- Quit out of all apps - Backup iCal (File > Backup iCal) - in the Library/Calendars (from his home account), deleted any cache files that were present in that folder
Might be worth a try for those of you that noticed that things are not syncing over to iCal.
Need help in Daylite or Billings? Check the Help menu for Apple Help documentation.
I am a new Daylite user and trying to use sync with 3.7.6 and it doesn't work at all. Not calendar items, nor contacts. Nothing. When I go into preferences and turn it on, it asks me if I want it to do a full sync, I say yes and it takes about 1 second or less to do whatever its doing (which is nothing). And none of my contacts are showing up in Addressbook and nothing in ical.
We are using Daylite with 5 Users and everytime we start syncing our contacts with the Mac adress book on all four computers, contacts are deleted or duplicated automatically. Not directly but after a few days.
i must admit I'm quite disappointed that sync does not work with Daylite. I was totally depending on being able to get these contacts into my phone and can't seem to do it.
I've been using Daylite for a while and the sync thing seems to be recent. I'm sure they are working on finding a solution. I can't say much about multi-user, but I'm pretty sure the Marketcircle team uses their own software internally for contact management and appointments and phone sync and it must work for them so give them a chance to figure out what's up with your system.
