I've had no help from MarketCircle Support at all on this - no response to any emails I send.
Using DL 3.0.3, upgraded to 3.1. Now my db (the sample one works fine) won't launch. Open Base Mgr gives me this error log snippet: "2006-07-31 16:20:43 -0400: &DyerBase: Recovering Data...{} 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: ----------------------------------------------------------- 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: The data file is not compatible with this version of OpenBase. 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: It is likely that it was created using a newer version of OpenBase. 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: shutting down server. 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: *v9.2* 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: ----------------------------------------------------------- 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: *v9.2*._rowid - unique index rebuilt {} 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: Truncated data file detected. 2006-07-31 16:20:44 -0400: &ABORT - DyerBase: Truncated data file detected. Hi Ed,
There is a relatively painless way to get Daylite going again: Please download Daylite 3.1 again and reinstall. It will replace OpenBase with the correct version. (I would also recommend that you backup your database). There have been a few users who have this issue and it seems they've all been caused by the installation of the SOHO series of applications by Chronosnet. Those apps install a much later version of OpenBase and Daylite is currently not compatible with that version. I hope this helps! Regards, Howard |

I've actually already done this twice. I wouldn't normally bother jumping in OpenBase Mgr otherwise, but the normal trouble-shooting methods did not appear to be working.
I believe the current installer of DL 3.1 includes OpenBase 9.1.something....ideas? ------------------ Ed Dyer: Consultant, All Covered® 703-658-9363 http://www.allcovered.com ACSA, MCP Certified member of the Apple Consultants Network: http://consultants.apple.com |

So what version of OpenBase is installed on your machine?

OpenBase Mgr says 9.1.6 (build #1) 01.12.2006
I assume DayLite 3.1 should have installed version 9.2? I'd previously removed all instances of OpenBase that I could find, as a trouble-shooting step after having reinstalled DL twice, but to no avail. The separate daylitedatabaseengine installer says I have the same version, so nothing will be installed. Running the installation appears to "upgrade" the installation, but nothing changes. I don't want to have to sack my entire contact and calendar database! Again, the sample works fine - do I simply need to get OpenBase 9.2? The current version offered on their site is only 9.1.5 I think. Have you actually gone back to the MarketCircle web site to download the latest version of Daylite? It changed only 2 days ago.
I believe it should be installing OB 9.1.9, not 9.1.6. It sounds like you aren't using the most recent installer. Regards, Howard |

I apologize for not responding earlier. The 3.1.1 release of DayLite worked beautifully. I guess I got an early-ish release of 3.1.
Thanks again for the help. ------------------ Ed Dyer: Consultant, All Covered® 703-658-9363 http://www.allcovered.com ACSA, MCP Certified member of the Apple Consultants Network: http://consultants.apple.com |
