We have two licenses. The database lives on my iMac. When my sister(the other licensee holder) tries to go online with her macbook when she is here in the office, has a hard time on a regular basis(spinny beach ball). She connects via our wireless router to me. Even when hardwired via ethernet, same issue. Some days its fine.. and then whamm.. problems start. We have not upgraded to the newest yet.. since we can't get her online with me. This is soo frustrating!!
You haven't specified if you get any actual errors, so I'm not sure what's happening - it might simply be that there is a lot of data to transfer and it need time to complete.
Are you able to have the MacBook log directly into the online database?
If you are getting an error when trying to sync, please send in the logs to Support (Help > Email Log Files) right after making another attempt. This will provide some information for us to diagnose the issue.

Sebastien, No error codes. She opens Daylite in her OFFLINE mode, and then when she tries to take it ONLINE, it just keeps spinning n spinning and finally stops. No error code, nothing. But it was not able to connect to the online database and the offline one is still functioning.
