I've been installing v3.1 on two machines that are running 10.3.9 and have run into a couple of recurring crashes.
The most notable one is that when changing the visibility of an object from 'Public' to 'Custom', DayLite unexpectedly quits. Things I've tried (without success) - using the admin account that I used to install DayLite (my users don't normally have admin privileges) - Using a new user account (i.e fresh ~/Library/Fonts, ~/Library/Preferences, etc) - Re-install DayLite while logged in with an Admin account and launch it in the same Admin user session. - Repair permissions on the boot disk - No other apps running at the same time - Patch everything on the OS in sight, including iTunes, iPod updates, etc. - Install DL and DMI separately instead of using the DL Productivity Suite installer. On 10.4 everything is hunky dory. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Rob |

Oh oh.
We'll have to look into this. Here is a heads up: 3.1.x (3.1.1 most likely) will be the last 3.x built to run on Panther. We will continue to support 3.1.x on Panther for some time. We strongly advise moving to 10.4.x. There are several reasons: 1) Maintaining Panther compatibility is hampering progress (i.e. Sync Services is Tiger only). 2) Over 90% of our users are on Tiger now. So the cost/benefit of maintaining Panther compatibility is not good. 3) At the database level, providing a single binary that runs on 10.3.9, 10.4.x (PowerPC) and 10.4.x (Intel) and gives good performance is proving to be very difficult. So with all this combined. It makes sense to move on. |

Rob,
Did you send in the crash report? I tried looking in the sent in crashes, but didn't see anything from you. If you could please make this happen again on Panther and send in the report, that would be great. Thanks, Michael. |

I sent at least two, but they would have been under the users' names/email:
nhendrick AT paperhat.co.uk sishfaq AT paperhat.co.uk I had confirmations of receipt back to each account from the crash report server. cheerz, Rob |

We are experiencing similar issues with DayLite 3.1 and 3.1.1 in Mac OS X 10.3.9. Clients can not set Visibility settings (it's grayed out) and if we try to administer the settings in the Users & Teams preference pane Daylite crashes.
The solution is to login using Mac OS X 10.4 and turn the Visibility option on under Teams. 10.3 clients will still crash if they try to go into this area, but the Visibility settings do now work. |

Hello.
We looked into this and isolated some issues when running these areas on Panther. We have fixed them for the next release of Daylite. Just a reminder, the current plan is to discountinue Panther support in September. At some point around there we will be releasing a release of Daylite which will be the last supported version of Daylite on Panther. All subsequent releases will run only on Tiger. Michael. |
