How long does the upgrading schema process take when opening a database for the first time in 3.5?

Mine has been stuck on the phrase ‘Processing update 3 of 6’ for over half-an-hour now, and I’m concerned it might not be doing anything at all.

What are other peoples’ experiences of schema update duration?

It does take a while. Hang in there.

Define ‘a while’…

I'm now at 90 mins after starting the process, and it’s still on ‘Processing update 3 of 6’.

Is there anyway of telling if it’s still doing something?

Now that sounds a little too long. Hopefully the smoke will settle soon and someone from MC support will chime in.

Howard

Hi there,

If you are still waiting for the upgrade, try force quitting, and restore then upgrade the backup. Make sure to make a duplicate of the backup first, and store it somewhere safe.

Let us know if you are still having trouble.

You can email support, support[at]marketcircle.com

Hi Ryan

Been there and done that, three times since this morning smile

I've now tried 3 different backups of the database. One from the early hours of this morning, one from just before doing the upgrade, and one from the auto-upgrade made as part of the update process.

I've reinstalled 3.2.3, opened the database to check the users and passwords, made a new backup, reinstalled 3.5 and then re-tried, logging in as the admin user, and I'm now at 120 minutes or so and still spinning wheel.

I've copied details of my OpenBase log etc, to the 3.5 beta list, but can send them direct to support if that helps?

I also sent a copy of my logs to the beta list, but that got caught in the moderation queue.

Hello,

I can confirm the problem. I'm trying to upgrade the database for a third time. With no luck :-(

Mine weighs in at a fraction under 200MB.

So far it’s been going around 3 hours.

I’ve sent a link to a backup of my database to Ali back-channel, along with a copy of my logs.

Hi Pawel,

Can you please email support@marketcircle.com. We will setup an ftp account for you to upload your database so we can further look into this issue.

I've been in level 4 of 6 for almost 4 hrs now. A step by step guide as to what to do would be very well appreciated.

Hi Thorri,

We're currently looking at these issues, we think we have it narrowed down.

  • Can you please launch OpenBaseManager.
  • On the left hand side click local.
  • Locate the name of your database, right click and select Configure Database.
  • Go to the Localization tab and let me know what kind of Database Encoding is selected there.

Do not change or save any settings.
