I keep getting this error message on my the computer where I am hosting Daylite when I open the OpenBase Manager application: "Network Config Problem Detected: A problem has been detected with your static ip address. Please check the OpenBase config panel in system preferences and verify your network settings." I go check that and the settings there do match the static ip address I have set for this computer. I am stumped!

Anyone know anything about this error?

By the way, I tried logging into Daylite on the host machine and it said that network address needed to be repaired. I followed the prompts and Daylite started up fine there. Then I went into the OpenBase control panel in System Preferences and it had replaced the manual ip address with "Automatic" and it checked the "Automatic IP Address" box. My understanding is that we do NOT want that "Automatic IP Address" box checked when we want to share DL over a network, correct? So I am confused now.

Hello,

I was getting this same error with the last upgrade. Apparently, and the gurus please correct me if I'm wrong, you need to change your port mapping to open ports 20221-20300, whereas before, the ports were different. After I did this, I was able to connect to my server at the specified ip on my LAN.

From what I understand, the 'Automatic IP Address' option is to be checked under very specific setups (I don't know what those are though), and that typically it should be left unchecked. I never had any trouble.

How do I change my port mapping? And why would this be - and why is it not something documented in and for Daylite?

I'm a little confused about your setup. Are you hosting DL on one machine and trying to access it via LAN on another? Because in the beginning of your post, you mention that you are getting the error on the computer that you're hosting your db and then proceed to say that you tried logging in on the host machine.

If you need help setting up port forwarding, I can assist you.

I have DL hosted on our G5 desktop and am accessing it via LAN from the laptop (not via the Internet, which from the article you mention is the reason one would need to be concerned about things like ports). I got the error message when I started OpenBase Manager on the G5. So it looks like this is not a "ports" issue but something else with regard to the ip addresses in the LAN, but I don't know what.

I don't even bother trying to connect via my static IP over the internet. DL is simply not optimized for this kind of thing.

All I can tell you is that when I opened those ports (before I only had 20-23 open) after I upgraded to the latest version, the same error your having stopped occurring. I know, it sounds weird, but it was the only hitch after I upgraded.
I too run the server over a G5 (Xserve) and access it through Intel Macs.
Another thing you can try is to try to connect via the computer's name, instead of the internal ip. Or, repair permissions on the G5.
