Every time I upgrade daylight, my secondary computer won't connect - some firewall issue on the server even though daylight is showing as allowing connections.

I did a lot of tinkering, this is what I think eventually worked (if it keeps working). I thought i'd make an note here so I can find it next time.

1. Set daylight on the server to disallow network connections. restart it.
2. set firewall to allow all connections.
3. Set daylight to allow network connections and restart it.
4. connect daylight from second computer.
5. change firewall setting on server to allow selected apps only, include daylight.
6. log out of daylight from second computer
7. log in to daylight from second computer.

This is probably due to OpenBase being updated, so the binaries that the firewall associates for its rules get changed, and get unregistered; not much can be done to avoid this when there is an OpenBase upgrade.

We are planning to improve the installer in the future to automatically install OpenBase only if it's needed (when a new version is installed).

How about a firewall configuration wizard for daylight, so I don't have to futz with the firewall tool.

its totally confusing when I go to different networks where I want to allow different access.

Thanks for the valuable tip. In my case also a "short" version of the procedure did help. (Firewall is set to allow only selected apps communication)

1. Set daylight on the server to disallow network connections. Restart it. (Some Leopard/Firewall windows will open and ask if communication should be allowed)
2. Set Daylight to allow network communication. Restart Daylite.
3. Open "OpenBase" in System Preferences and untick "AUTOMATIC" IP.
4. Connect from second computer.
