When I have a contact that I only have the first name for, etc. ( e.g. John <john@sample.com> ), but later get an email from the guy and get more information via the "From:" line ( e.g. John Doe <john@sample.com> ), DMI doesn't seem to recognize that the contact already exists and all I want to do is update/add the new info.

I've tried going into DayLite and updating the info myself and then trying to select the person, but that doesn't seem to do it either.

Interestingly, when I try to reply to the email, the drawer opens with the proper contact selected, but it won't record the incoming email.

What gives?

DMI only takes into consideration the email when searching for the matching contact record in Daylite. When you double click the contact in DMI to edit their info, once edited the person's name will not update immediately. If you move away from the email and then back it will refresh the contact name displayed in DMI.

If you click reply without moving away from the email and refreshing the contact name in DMI it will still link the email to that contact. (I just tested it). When replying double check that the contact is checked to have the email recorded in their record.

All that matters is the email address.

I am still having trouble with this feature. The DayLite drawer still does not refresh to update to display the Contact who sent the email. When I try to select the contact from the list and then exit the email and reopen it, nothing changes. I just want to record an incoming email. Please help.

Hi Tom,

After making the changes in Daylite, in the DMI drawer, click on the Gear shaped icon at the bottom and choose refresh.

Does this help?

There's no gear shaped icon. All I have is two buttons "Add to DayLite" and "Refresh". The Refresh button doesn't do anything when I click it. No spinning wheel, no nothing.

Hi Tom,

I understand that this has been resolved.
Am I correct?

Yeah, unbeknownst to me I had been logged into the system as my boss the entire time. He was the one sending me the email I was having trouble recording, and I understand that recording an email from yourself is a no-no. All I had to do was change the name of that contact to myself and all was fine. Thanks again for the help.
