Hi,
I noticed that when stripping attachments, the comlete email text body is erased. Tried this with several computers and different formats. Anyone experianced anythng similar? Jack |

I've raised this a couple of times. It seems to depend on how the original mail has been encoded. My observations have been that if you receive a mail with file attachments and it has been sent as formatted text then invariably the mail client will have created a mail attachment of type "text/alternative" which contains plain and formatted alternatives of the body text. In this case the text is treated as an attachment and not sent to DL when "strip attachments" is set. If you deselect "strip attachments" and import a message then you clearly see the body of the message in DL as a file, which you then have to double-click to read. The same problem does seem to happen sometimes when there are no file attachments, but the body text is sent formatted. There is a slight complication in that if you delete the mail message to try importing it again (e.g. without stripping attachments), you can't because DMI thinks the message is in DL and doesn't realise you've deleted it from the database. What I tend to do as a workflow is select my options in the side panel of Mail, copy the body text, delete the message (which triggers DMI), go to DL and find the mail, and if it hasn't come across properly double click the message and paste the text under the headers (which do always come across via DMI). Instead of deleting straight away, you can click off the message and back again and you have the "Open message" button right there in the side panel. I don't know that this is a problem that Marketcircle can fix, based on the last response from AJ. If there was a way that DMI could read the "Content-Type" of an attachment to see if it contained a type text/plain or text/html and if it did then import it regardless of it being an "attachment", then that would be a fix. Nick,
Great post ! Fooling around with Mail & DL I have noticed a few things. If you strip the attachments using the Mail function and the message is not on a seperate window, i.e. open view, you somethimes do get the body text. What I do is read the message on the Mail window. Use the strip attachment function, then use DMI. Try it and see if it works for you. Jack |

How about a DMI that just "works" ? |
