In what way not work?
Have you renamed the Notes you want to appear with ‘{HUD}’ in the title, rather than just ‘HUD’? (Or changed the ’Template.html‘ file in Textedit to something more suitable.) As mentioned above, if any of the Notes attached to the Object have quotes in them, it will cause the Widget to appear blank and fail; I’m trying to figure out a way around that. Without a few more details about exactly how it’s not working, it’s hard to say what’s going wrong. |

Dear Andy,
Thank you for your response - much appreciated. My problem was just having HUD not {HUD} - so all is well now. Thank you. |

I've got Version 2.1 working fine. Love it!
Andy, is there a reason why the Notes Widget doesn't show up in Tasks? I click the little '+' button to add it, but it's not in the selector. |

I think part of the problem is that Tasks do not have notes, only details, so the HUD would not be relevant.
Also, Andy may have the answer to this: I think each HUD has to be set up to show particularly in each view - so a HUD could be deliberately made for Contacts view and show up (or not) in other views where applicable. Regards, Howard |

As per page 34 of the Daylite 3 Public Developer Kit PDF—and as Howard pointed out—each HUD has to be set up to show particularly in each view, specifically by the code in the ‘Info.plist’ file in the HUD.
So, according to the documentation, HUDs can’t be set to appear under Tasks, despite there being a HUD area. (Huh?) Whether this is a mistake in the program, or in the documentation, I’m not sure. Or maybe for HUDs to appear in Tasks is a special case. Anyone from MC care to comment? You can always test it by adding the option to the HUD by editing the ‘Info.plist’ file and see what happens |

Andy-I've installed HUD Notes Widget v2.0...into my Daylite v3.03. Put a note linked to a contact entitled... We have been shortlisted {hud} .....
The Notes Heads up display doesn't pick it up. It still reads No HUD note found. Do I misunderstand what the Widget is to do or am I doing something wrong? |

Andy-I've changed the title We have been shortlisted {hud} to We have been shortlisted {HUD}, turned off notes, turned it back on and now the note appears.. Don't know if the refresh(off and on) or changing hud to caps solved the issue.

I don’t think you are misunderstanding what the Widget does; it should certainly show the contents of your Note, assuming it’s been named with {HUD} in the title and the record has been refreshed. The {HUD} part is case-sensitive, so that might be it. The other caveat is that if any of the notes you are trying to link contain quote characters; they cause the javascript code behind the scenes to close the field early (still trying to fix that bug…). If the Widget states "No HUD Note found.", then it’s likely to be the first issue: it simply can’t find the note; if the Widget appears to be blank, it’s a problem with quotes or similar, and the Widget has simply bailed out and is sulking… Try hitting Command-R (or do File>Refresh) to make sure the Widget is updated once you’ve edited the Note(s) title(s). |

Posting as you did…
Yeah, it’s the case-sensitive bit was causing your problem. But do watch out for the quotes issue… (Still need feedback from MC if there is any way around that, if you are listening |

Andy-Thanks for the response. I'm just getting into this program but think it has a lot of possibilities.

If there are problems, I'll probably run into them. I've got a pretty substantial data base....about 2,700 contacts and over 1,600 organizations. Frankly, I'm not sure, but think that is above the norm.

Hey Andy,
I've installed the HUDNotes widget, but don't see the HUD widget in the first place. It's as if I never installed it. Specifics: I've installed widget v2.1 into DayLite 3.1, build 9.5.4. I copied the "HUDNotes.dlwkt" file into the same HUdTemplates directory where I've successful installed at least one other Widget. I created a single note for one contact, with title "{HUD} test". Looking at the contact display, I see the two default widgets (Next Activity and Last Activity) and nothing else. Any ideas? Am I overlooking something obvious? |

Hi Michael,
You didn't mention "activating" the HUD Notes widget... In the top right hand corner of the widget display area there's a "+" sign - click that and you'll get a list of all widgets available for the object type you're viewing. You'll need to select the HUD Notes widget in there. If it doesn't show up as an option, then you may need to restart Daylite. |

Thanks Scott. That would be the obvious thing I wondered if I had missed.
Now that I've got the thing operational, I love it! This functionality was one of the few things I missed from Outlook. |

Hi Andy,
I notice the HUD note display seems to omit formatting (boldface, etc.). Any hope of supporting this in a future version? |
