Hi Craig

To add a HUD note you simply attach a normal Note to the Object in question and ensure that the title of the note contains the string ‘{HUD}’; this indicates that the Note should be displayed as a HUD Note.

You might have to reload the Object to see it take effect—and read the whole of this thread to see the issue that Notes that contain quote characters cause some issues—but that’s all there is to it.

Love the widget: but how exactly to I change the string I want it to search for from {HUD} to History, which is what many of my contact notes are entitled? I open up the 'template.html' file with TextEdit but it's BLANK. There's nothing there to edit or change...it's a completely empty file...
thanks!

Hi Dave

That’s because—in it’s infinite wisdom—TextEdit is attempting to render the file as a web page; you need to either open it as plain text (possibly in another text editor) or change it to plain text in TextEdit to see the content.

Ahhh! got it. Used BBEdit instead, and all is well. Love the widget! Should be a standard interface feature, AFAIC. Thanks!

Has anyone experienced problems with this HUD since upgrading to 3.7.3. The widget use to work fine, but no longer brings up HUD notes. And, yes, I did check to make sure that {HUD} was in the subject line and that the project was linked. confused Any help is appreciated.

Do any of the non-working notes have quote marks within them, as this is known to cause problems.

I’m on 3.7.3 and am not having any issues with the Widget, so it could be something specific to your machine or set-up.

Can you give me any more details?

Are all previously working entries failing, or only some?

Anyone else confirm they are having issues since upgrading?

Cheers

Have reinstalled HUD Note 2.1. The template is working now. Old version must have gotten tweaked or something. Thanks for the response. Again, great widget.

Andy,

Since you have figured out that if there are any "quotations" in notes that your "HUD Notes Widget" will not work for each contact. I have thousands of notes. The procedure would be to delete all "quotations" but in my case this process would be a daunting task. We would just assume that an industrial strength program such as this one that all a user would have to do is bulk edit having the program to remove any "quotations" in notes. The Daylite program lacks this function, allowing users to bulk edit notes. You can edit the title of the note but not the main body. Is there a "work around" regarding "quotations" issue? Also, do you know if this same type of HUD Notes Widget would work to providing the Notes of the HUD's Next Activity and Last Activity?

Thanks,
Kevin

Andy,

Since last version (3.8) the content of all my HUD notes appears in font Times 14 although all other fields in Daylite are OK. There is no option to change/modify this... so it is working but not convenient (and quite uggly...)
Any idea what is causing it and how to change it back to normal?
Thank you in advance.

Hello Olivier, I'm experiencing the same behavior the HUD Notes Widget font has changed to Times 14. I believe Andy is aware of it and is addressing the issue, he should be getting back with us soon.
