Hi,
I just used the Mac OS X built-in archiver. You should be able to unarchive it from the Finder's contextual menu. |

Sorry Brendan, from Finder, I can copy it, compress it, or burn it to disk but there is not an option to unbundle it. If I double-click on the SubTaskTimer.bundle that I downloaded (3.5) then the pop-up asks me for a default application. I've not found one that works. I'm not normally this dimwitted but it's not working for me. Any other guidance?

Ah I see. Ok, simple. Just copy the SubTaskTimer.bundle package into your ~/Library/Application Support/Daylite/PlugIns directory. Then restart Daylite. I usually configure a contextual menu for Tasks with SubTask Timer at the top. Then when I want to time a task, I just right-click on the task and select SubTask Timer.

Brandon - I now have Subtask Timer at the top of the Task contextual menu and am forever in your debt.

Hi Brendan,
I'm having the same problem as Erin except I don't appear to have a plugins directory folder to copy the bundle to. I have followed your file link above: ...library/Application Support/Daylite but the folder options I have are Backup, HUD Templates and Templates. I hope you can help. Thanks Heather |

Hi Heather,
Just create the PlugIns directory manually then. Then restart Daylite. |

Thanks Brendan - that's worked a treat!

Hi Brendan,
Thank you very much. Subtask Timer it’s an amazing addon to DL. If possible, I would like suggest a feature: to sum the time from “sub-subtasks” too. Let me explain: We group each project by phases (briefing, comps, project, production). Each phase receives a task. And each has its subtasks (example: comps/research, comps/website an so on). Is that possible or im reinventing the wheel? Best regards, Leo Almeida |

The subtask timer sums only the times from the subtasks. It leaves out the overall time from the parent task.
Oh I see. I just re-read your message. Sub-subtasks. Hmm... Not sure about that. We have no need for that ourselves. If you're good with Xcode, I can certainly give you the Objective-C code if you want to add that. Thanks, Brendan |

Hi Brendan,
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately Im not that good at coding. I would be glad if you can consider this features on future upgrades. Best Regards, Leo |

Hi Brendan, just thought I would let you know that the SubTaskTimer is broken for Daylite 3.8 It makes duplicates and also when you pause it it sets the original item as complete even though you just paused it.

oh no!
I wont be upgrading then. We love this plugin. |

Hmm... that's not good. I haven't upgraded to 3.8 yet so we haven't noticed. And I can't upgrade until I upgrade everyone here as we're in a networked environment with a shared server. The server I believe has to be upgraded at the same time as the clients.
I really wish there was no need for this plug-in as Daylite should have this capability built-in. They have it with Billings, why not Daylite? At least having an "actual time" field on the Task would negate the requirement to create all the separate sub-tasks. At least for us. I don't really care about when a task was paused and started again. I just want to know how long the entire task took to complete. The built-in task timer doesn't support pausing. |

Totally True.
Can this be done Daylite Team? Is there a reason why it isn't? I cant believe it would take away from Billings. |
