I know that Daylite doesn't run on Windows. But we just recently added a partner in our company, and he is using PC.

Is there a way/tool/strategy to allow some sort of communication between Daylite and his PC. Most important would be usage of the shared calendar and access to the shared contacts.

Thx for any help!
Christian

This is just off the cuff... note that these suggestions are not automatic nor conclusive...

  • Use a CalDAV Group Scheduling compatible server. I use Google and you can setup your sync'd iCal calendar to r/w to the google calendar and have your PC guy use the google calendar to see his and optionally everyone elses calendars. See http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358 to setup iCal for this. The PC guy can use the Web to view the calendar, Sunbird or other compatible calendar program.
  • Periodically manually export vcards and calendar from Daylite. See File>Export in Daylite. Although the "Export Calendar to Apple iCal" menu items implies it is just for Apple's iCal and goes directly to iCal this is not the case. I believe this just exports the contents of the calendar using the ics file format which can be imported into google calendar or sunbird etc. You end up with two files, .vcf and .ics
  • Write an applescript that does this last step for you. If you store these files on a shared server or disk your windows person can access it and import them into their system.
  • Get you PC guy an intel mac, install at least 4 gigs of ram and install VMWare Fusion Unity, then install windows on it. He can use windows and Mac software then.
  • If your PC user just doesn't want to use a Mac per se, he could always use a VNC client to access another Mac with Daylite on it.
  • Research setting up an LDAP server to share contacts.

These are just a couple of options. Hope that helps.
