This widget allows you to watch different Organizations' Stock prices in a small, unobtrusive view. For installation, activation and usage instructions, please double-click the installer, read the instructions and notes, then complete the install.

Hello Eric, tired to install your Simple Stock Watcher widget and got a AppleScript Error, system events to and error: Can't continue ResourcesError. (-1708). If you know what I am doing wrong to installing this please let me know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Weird - I just noticed one of my Macs (which this exact installer has run on before) throwing the same error, and my other machines are fine. It's baffling.

Here is a zip file with the widget and a read-me file that accomplishes the same thing, but not quite as elegant as the installer (when it works)..

Thanks for your assistance~

I got the same resource error and went with the manual install instead. Works like a champ now.

Thanks for the support Kevin and J. Scott-

The installers should work now - The installer was written in the 3.0 days, and HUD widgets were treated as folders then. Somewhere around 3.1 or 3.1.1, widgets started being treated as packages. So the installer was working with earlier versions of DL, and not with the newer ones. That was a fun bug to identify <sigh>

Thanks!

Thanks for the diligence and the great Widgets.

Question: Have you ever explored writing a Dashboard Widget that works with DayLite?

I hadn't really thought about that but that would be neat. I personally don't use the dashboard stuff all that much but I agree that it would be cool to see a shiny interface to some of Daylite's data!

To do it right, I imagine a lot of the widget would have to be written in Objective-C, which I'm still pretty much a novice in (but picking up, in large part because of Daylite). It would make for a good collaborative project though!

Or you could embed some F-Script inside some AppleScript and get what you need into a Dashboard widget.

There are examples of these types of scripts in the Developer Kit.

The issue being that I need to know Obj-C to write the F-Script! smile

F-Script really is amazingly cool, but it seems like it's pretty much the Obj-C syntax with a few less '[' brackets..

Thanks Danny, I appreciate it. I'm not sure where other widgets might be located, other than this Share Zone forum. I'd like to see some more widgets myself...
